Summary: This study investigated the proliferation, migration, and impact on trophoblast invasion capacity of MenSCs under different physiological conditions. The findings suggest a potential role for MenSCs in the implantation process, implying a communication between maternal MenSCs and invading trophoblast cells that could be implicated in the etiology of PE.

Summary: The study found elevated expression of PROX1-AS1 in PE patients' placental tissues and blood samples. Inhibiting PROX1-AS1 promoted cell migration and invasion, regulated apoptosis through interactions with miR-211-5p and caspase-9.

Summary: Irisin is a newly discovered exercise-mediated polypeptide hormone. Studies have shown that Irisin protects against cell death by reducing pro-apoptotic signaling cascades, inducing DNA repair pathways, and inhibiting Caspase 3 activity. Additionally, Irisin acts through the Akt signaling pathway to prevent apoptosis, increase levels of anti-apoptotic BCL2, and reduce ROS levels. These findings provide new insights into the role of Irisin in promoting cell survival and preventing apoptosis in the human placenta under pathological conditions.

Summary: This study found that the deficiency of FST impairs trophoblast function by upregulating the levels of GDF11, leading to the development of preeclampsia. The high expression of miR-24-3p in preeclamptic placentas may be an important factor in this mechanism.

Summary: This study identified the impact of HOXB3 in preeclampsia and found that its overexpression can promote trophoblast cell proliferation and migration by regulating the Notch1 and β-catenin pathways. The study also showed that suppressing the Wnt/β-catenin pathway can alleviate the effects of HOXB3. These findings provide a novel approach for preeclampsia therapy.

Summary: Preeclampsia (PE), a syndrome specific to pregnancy, affects 5-7% of patients and currently has no effective treatment. Early abnormal placental development leads to oxidative stress and release of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the placenta, resulting in downstream signaling, stabilization of Hypoxia Inducible Factor 1A (HIF1A), and transcription of anti-angiogenic factors sFLT1 and sEng. This study found that the nitroxide-type antioxidant molecule HMP could reduce placental oxidative stress and alleviate PE symptoms in vitro.

Summary: This study investigated the role of Claudin-1 (CLDN1) in trophoblast invasion and endovascular trophoblast (enEVT) differentiation in early-onset preeclampsia (EOPE). The expression and localization of CLDN1 were examined in normal and EOPE placental tissues. Trophoblast invasion and enEVT differentiation were studied using trophoblast cell lines. The results suggest that downregulation of CLDN1 is involved in the pathogenesis of EOPE by regulating trophoblast invasion and enEVT differentiation.
