Summary: This meta-analysis investigated the association between two ESR2 gene polymorphisms (rs1256049 and rs4986938) and cancer susceptibility. The researchers conducted an extensive literature search and analyzed data from 10 articles that included a total of 18,064 cases and 19,556 controls. The study found that the rs1256049 polymorphism of ESR2 is associated with an increased risk of prostate cancer in Caucasians and a decreased risk in Asians, while rs4986938 is not associated with prostate cancer risk.

Summary: BRCA1 and BRCA2 pathogenic variants are associated with prostate cancer risk with varying relative risks reported. The heterogeneity in estimates may be influenced by factors such as age, family history, and study-level differences in ethnicity composition. Subgroup analyses suggest risks may be modified by age, ethnicity, and PV location within BRCA2 for future risk estimation studies.

Summary: A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the necessity of androgen deprivation therapy combined with radiotherapy for intermediate-risk prostate cancer patients. The results showed that androgen deprivation therapy combined with radiotherapy did not provide overall survival and biochemical recurrence-free survival advantages to intermediate-risk prostate cancer patients. Therefore, radiotherapy alone may be an effective treatment for these patients.

Summary: This study summarized the diagnostic role of PET/MRI in patients with prostate cancer. The results showed that PET/MRI has high sensitivity for detecting primary PCa, especially when radiolabeled PSMA is used, and also has a high detection rate for recurrent disease.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to summarize the current evidence on the association of coffee with hypertension risk in observational studies. The results showed an inverse association between coffee consumption and hypertension risk, but this association varied by study characteristics.

Summary: The study found that cancer patients treated with atezolizumab and bevacizumab have a significantly increased risk of hypertension, especially in RCC or HCC patients. Enhanced monitoring is highly recommended to prevent treatment-induced hypertension and other cardiovascular complications.

Summary: This meta-analysis of 32 randomized controlled trials concluded that the use of poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors in cancer patients is associated with an increased risk of hypertension. Olaparib 200-600 mg/day (excluding olaparib plus cediranib regimen) appears to be the PARP inhibitor with the lowest risk of hypertension, followed by veliparib and rucaparib. Niraparib, olaparib 800 mg/day, and olaparib combined with cediranib may increase the risk of developing hypertension in cancer patients, and clinicians should monitor blood pressure and provide medication when necessary.

Summary: This systematic review and meta-analysis highlight the need to optimize patient selection for those with intermediate-risk (IR) features. The findings demonstrate that unselected IR patients have higher risks of metastasis and cancer mortality compared to patients with low-risk features, underscoring the importance of optimizing the selection of patients with IR features.

Summary: This study assessed the associations between antidiabetic medications (ADM) and the risk of prostate cancer (PCa) in diabetics. The results indicate that the use of thiazolidinediones and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RA) may reduce the risk of PCa.

Summary: The meta-analysis revealed inconsistent associations between leptin and overall prostate cancer, with weak evidence of a positive association with aggressive disease; there was also weak evidence of a small inverse association between adiponectin and overall prostate cancer, but less evidence of an association with aggressive disease.
