Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the mechanism of curcumin in alleviating lung damage induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in ducks. The results showed that dietary supplementation of curcumin significantly relieved oxidation stress and inflammation parameters in the lungs of ducks. The remission may be attributed to the activation of the nuclear erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)-antioxidant reaction element (ARE) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kappa B) signaling pathways. This study provides insights into the potential application of curcumin in waterfowl feed.

Summary: The study evaluated the modulation of Nrf2, NF-kappa B and STAT3 signaling pathways in colorectal cancer cells by lichen-derived secondary metabolites. Physodic and salazinic acids showed the highest activity against CRC cells, affecting Nrf2 activation and gene expression while inducing opposite effects on NF-kappa B and STAT3 pathways. Caperatic acid had the most impact on Wnt/beta-catenin, while salazinic acid was the most potent modulator of Nrf2, NF-kappa B and STAT3 pathways. Physodic acid seemed to affect all investigated pathways.
