Summary: The study showed that TRIM38 can alleviate IL-1 beta-induced apoptosis and degeneration of chondrocytes by suppressing the NF-kappa B signaling pathway. This work suggests a potential role of TRIM38 in osteoarthritis and proposes it as a new therapeutic target for the disease.

Summary: NLRC5 is a critical mediator of inflammatory response and its overexpression in chondrocytes suppressed IL-1β-induced inflammation. Knockdown of NLRC5 had the opposite effect. NLRC5 attenuated IL-1β-induced inflammatory injury through regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway in chondrocytes.

Summary: The research found that Xanthohumol (XN) can inhibit the expression of nitric oxide synthase (INOS), IL-1 beta-promoted inducible nitric oxide (NO), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in vitro. Additionally, it down-regulates matrix metalloproteinase-13 and prothrombin, while up-regulating type II collagen and Aggrecan expression. XN also activates nuclear factor (Nrf2) and inhibits nuclear factor B (NF-kappaB) signal transduction to slow down the progression of osteoarthritis.

Summary: Stevioside (SVS) might alleviate cartilage degradation in mice with osteoarthritis (OA) by inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines, reducing cell apoptosis and improving autophagy, as well as blocking the activation of signaling pathways. In vivo experiments demonstrated the potential therapeutic effect of SVS on OA.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Lycopene could inhibit the expression of inflammatory factors, alleviate the degradation of extracellular matrix, and activate the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway to reverse the activations of NF-kappa B and STAT3 signal pathway. The results suggest that Lycopene may be a promising novel drug for OA treatment as it could inhibit the occurrence and development of OA in mice.

Summary: This study demonstrated for the first time the protective medicinal efficacy of cepharanthine (CEP) in osteoarthritis. CEP suppressed inflammation and increased protein expression in joint tissues while restoring cellular autophagy. The mouse model confirmed the therapeutic potential of CEP in osteoarthritis treatment.

Summary: GAB2 plays an important role in osteoarthritis, and inhibition of GAB2 expression can reduce the expression of inflammatory proteins and inhibit the activation of key signaling pathways. In animal experiments, reducing GAB2 expression can delay cartilage destruction. Therefore, GAB2 is a potential therapeutic target for osteoarthritis.

Summary: OA is characterized by destruction of articular cartilage and inflammation plays a key role in its progression. Maslinic acid (MA) from olive fruit has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. In in vitro and in vivo experiments, MA was found to attenuate inflammatory mediators and inhibit the progression of OA disease.
