Summary: This study investigated the neuroprotective effects of IL-33 in relieving sciatic nerve injury. The results showed that IL-33 at doses of 50 and 25 μg/kg can promote nerve regeneration and improve sensorimotor recovery, while exerting its effects through regulating the inflammatory microenvironment and inducing macrophage polarization towards the M2 phenotype.

Summary: Break-induced replication (BIR) is a specialized pathway for DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair, with human PIF1 helicase playing an important role in promoting BIR in mammalian cells. AT-rich DNA sequences derived from fragile sites can induce BIR under replication stress and oncogenic stress. Loss of PIF1 is synthetically lethal with loss of FANCM, and a breast cancer-associated PIF1 mutant is defective in BIR, suggesting a direct link between BIR and oncogenic processes.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between interleukin-21 receptor (IL-21R) and macrophages (M phi) in chlamydial lung infection. The results showed that IL-21R deficiency led to decreased M phi infiltration and impaired inflammatory response. In vitro experiments also revealed the proinflammatory effect of IL-21 on macrophages. These findings contribute to our understanding of how IL-21R exacerbates chlamydia respiratory infection by promoting the proinflammatory effect of M phi.

By shifting macrophage phenotype from M1 to M2, LIPUS enhances skeletal muscle regeneration.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of PFOS exposure on atherosclerosis progression and the underlying mechanisms. The results showed that PFOS increased pulse wave velocity, intima-media thickness, aortic plaque burden, and levels of serum lipids and inflammatory cytokines. PFOS promoted M1 macrophage polarization and suppressed M2 macrophage polarization, leading to inflammation. NF-κB activation in macrophages was associated with this process. These findings highlight the role of PFOS in accelerating atherosclerosis progression through NF-κB-mediated inflammation.

Summary: In this study, researchers found that the phosphorylation of H3.3 at the S31 residue regulates heterochromatin accessibility at telomeres during replication. This process is achieved through the regulation of the histone demethylase KDM4B. Abnormal phosphorylation of H3.3 S31 can lead to altered H3K9me3 modification and subsequent DNA damage. The regulation of H3.3 S31Ph also affects the overall chromatin integrity of other heterochromatin regions.
