Summary: A new generation of optogenetic tools has contributed to understanding classical open questions in neuroscience. Voltage imaging technologies using genetically encoded voltage indicators have been increasingly used to observe the dynamics of brain circuits. This article describes a method that combines voltage imaging with electrophysiology to study hippocampal-neocortical interactions.

Summary: This work examines the impact of smoothness on the accuracy of treecodes and compares three tricubic interpolation methods with different smoothness properties. The results show that higher smoothness leads to higher accuracy, but the globally C0 continuous and discontinuous treecodes are competitive with the C1 continuous treecode.

Summary: Single-direction DWI is feasible in assessing fetal corpus callosum, with higher visibility and contrast ratio compared to traditional sequences like HASTE and TrueFISP. It can also improve the diagnostic accuracy for agenesis of the corpus callosum in fetuses.

Summary: The article explores how a nonzero shift current can be activated in centrosymmetric crystals through the photon-drag effect, and the purely transverse response of this shift current in such crystals, which arises from the shift-vector's pseudovector nature under mirror operation.

Summary: The study compared the high-voltage microwave oscillation performance of nonlinear coaxial transmission lines filled with different ferrite rings, finding that ferrite rings with a rectangular hysteresis loop provide more stable and effective microwave oscillations. The experimental data also showed a relationship between the observed processes in nonlinear ferrite lines and the spin waves of magnetization precession.

Summary: The study shows that air pollution, climate change and geoengineering may affect crop yields, especially the impact of changes in sunlight on maize and soybean yields. Crop exposure to sunlight may be influenced by a variety of factors, highlighting the complexity of agricultural impacts from environmental changes.

Summary: This study investigates the laminar flow over a canonical 25-55 degrees double cone in hypersonic conditions using computational fluid dynamics, bispectrum analysis, and dynamic mode decomposition (DMD). The research focuses on the evolution and nonlinear behavior of perturbation modes in the flow.

Summary: This article focuses on the global output-feedback stabilization of nonlinear systems with unknown control directions and unmeasured states dependent growth. A novel switching adaptive scheme is proposed to compensate system uncertainties and nonlinearities. The scheme involves a logic-based switching mechanism and selects a proper controller from a family of candidate controllers to act on the system. The constructed switching adaptive controller guarantees that all signals of the resulting closed-loop system are bounded and ultimately converge to zero.

Summary: This paper establishes the global existence of solutions for the Keller-Segel-(Navier)-Stokes system with nonlinear motility functions. The system describes a biological diffusion and chemotaxis process, taking into account possible diffusion degeneracy. Under certain conditions, it is proven that the system has a global classical solution for reasonable initial data.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of magnetic coupling phenomena on the magnetic particle imaging (MPI) signal. The researchers found that the inter-particle distance and the silica shell thickness affect the magnetic properties and signal/noise ratio. Commercial tracers showed poor signal stability in PBS, while the flame-made samples exhibited excellent signal stability.

Summary: The rhizosphere, the active soil area for material transformation and energy flow, plays a crucial role in soil biochemical cycling. However, the global impact of the rhizosphere on soil nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) cycling dynamics remains unclear. By analyzing 1063 observations and 15 variables from 122 literature sources, we found that the rhizosphere increased available N (AN), available P (AP), and total P (TP), while reducing nitrate N (NO3-N) and ammonia N (NH4-N). The effect on total N (TN) was not significant. These findings have significant implications for improving soil nutrient utilization efficiency and modeling nutrient cycling in agricultural systems.

Summary: In this study, an ultrasound HK contrast-weighted summation (CWS) parametric imaging algorithm based on the H-scan technique was proposed. The optimal window side length of the HK parameters estimated by the XU estimator was investigated through phantom simulations. The proposed algorithm provided improved contrast-to-noise ratio and achieved the best accuracy and Dice score of coagulation zone detection.

Summary: Nonlinear modal interactions in a model airplane subject to harmonic excitation were studied, showing the influence of local nonlinear attachments on the global dynamics. The findings indicate that nonlinearities can facilitate energy transfer to non-resonant airplane modes in certain frequency bands.

Summary: Fast camera imaging is used to study ion acoustic waves propagating azimuthally in a magnetized plasma column. The high-speed image sequences are analyzed using proper orthogonal decomposition and 2D Fourier transform, enabling evaluation of the differences between the two methods. The spatial-temporal features of the waves are extracted from the high-speed images, revealing energy exchanges between modes, growth rates, and nonlinear interactions.
