Summary: Tobacco smoke free radicals, which depend on the intrinsic nitrate levels in tobacco, are closely associated with adverse health effects. The levels of gas phase radicals are highly correlated with nitrate levels in different tobacco types and brands. Nitrate addition to tobacco leaves increases the production of gas phase radicals and NNK in smoke. Tobacco nitrate plays a key role in the production of gas phase radicals and has implications for health regulation.

Their functional integrity is mainly maintained by mitostasis, involving processes like mitochondrial transport, anchoring, fusion, and fission, regulated by various signaling pathways. The communication between mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) via mitochondria-associated membranes (MAMs) is crucial for Ca2+ buffering. Alterations in mitochondrial activity can lead to increased production of reactive oxygen species, disturbance in physiological metabolism, and mitochondrial dysfunction resulting in cell death through apoptosis.

Summary: This study investigated the cytosolic localization of TRPV1 and its relationship with oxidative neurotoxicity in glial cells. The results showed that TRPV1 was expressed in the perinuclear area of glial cells and not in the cell membrane. In DBTRG cells, capsaicin stimulation activated TRPV1 channels, leading to an increase in intracellular free reactive oxygen species and cell apoptosis. These effects were diminished by the treatment of a TRPV1 blocker.

The results showed that plasma PPARd levels were lower in patients with ACS than those with SA. PPARd agonist reduced plaque vulnerability, synthetic SMC phenotype, ER stress, and NLRP3 inflammasome expression in ApoE(-/-) mice fed a high-cholesterol diet. PPARd protected against SMC phenotypic switching by inhibiting NF?B signaling and alleviating ER stress.
