目标和范围
Communications Physics is an open access journal from Nature Research publishing high-quality research, reviews and commentary in all areas of the physical sciences. Research papers published by the journal represent significant advances bringing new insight to a specialized area of research in physics. We also aim to provide a community forum for issues of importance to all physicists, regardless of sub-discipline.

The scope of the journal covers all areas of experimental, applied, fundamental, and interdisciplinary physical sciences. Primary research published in Communications Physics includes novel experimental results, new techniques or computational methods that may influence the work of others in the sub-discipline. We also consider submissions from adjacent research fields where the central advance of the study is of interest to physicists, for example material sciences, physical chemistry and technologies.

I mainly work on the interaction between strong terahertz fields and semiconductors. The review process went through three rounds.

In the first round, there were three reviewers, one was positive, and the other two required major revisions. One of the reviewers raised 17 technical and mechanistic questions, while another reviewer was mainly unsatisfied with the model and said that a more accurate model was needed. In terms of experiments, all reviewers felt that they were done well and did not require additional experiments. However, the calibration of the time-domain spectroscopy and the terahertz field intensity were not clearly explained in the paper and needed to be supplemented. Overall, all reviewers provided constructive comments, showing their expertise in the field. It was my first time submitting an article, and I felt lucky to have these rigorous reviewers. I then responded to their requests and made modifications accordingly. However, I couldn't find a better model right away, so I tried to convince the reviewers that this model was used in other journals before, which should be suitable here.

In the second round, the second reviewer who suggested modifications to the model mentioned that I had provided more detailed descriptions of the mechanistic aspects later on and also praised the beautiful experiments. However, the first reviewer still found flaws in the mechanistic aspects and the time delay calibration. They strongly emphasized the importance of maintaining academic standards. This time, I was given three months to respond to the review.

Finally, I had to go back to the paper and finally found a suitable model to address the issues. In the last round, it was accepted for publication.

The whole process took about nine months.

The newly released impact factor of Communications Physics is 6.368, which closely follows the impact factor of 9.161 for PRL (Physical Review Letters) in the field of physics. Currently, the proportion of articles by Chinese authors is not high. For those interested in investing, please do so as soon as possible.
