目标和范围
This new journal will focus on a challenge-oriented approach to solutions that will bring together excellent natural sciences, which underpin the development and application of technologies, to understand and deliver a sustainable future. We recognize the need to encourage and disseminate the creation and development of new innovative products, technologies and ideas that improve our environment. Sectors of impact include soil, air, water and food in both rural and urban landscapes.

The journal represents a platform for disseminating the fundamental scientific evidence for environmental protection and sustainable development. The journal will bring together excellent natural sciences, which underpin the understanding, development and application of technologies, to deliver a sustainable future. Dissemination of the fundamental science, methodologies, tools and techniques, in addition to the policy and governance landscape around the topic of sustainable future, are the focus of this publication. It brings together the need to consider the science and technology for environmental benefits including the development of both smarter, cleaner technologies for environmental protection, more efficient processing methods for resource use efficiency and critically, the environmental evidence for their uptake and success.

Here is a summary of my own experience regarding the "Decision in process" status.

※ If this status appears after the initial submission with the editor, there is a high probability that the paper will be rejected. However, the editor is not entirely certain and would consult the editorial team to make a decision. Regardless of the final outcome, the editor will provide more suggestions, which can be considered as a benefit.

※ If this status appears after the initial review under review, it depends on the journal. In top-tier journals, it may indicate that the reviewer's comments are not favorable. Based on personal and others' experiences, out of approximately four instances, only one paper was not rejected, mainly because one reviewer recommended major revisions. In other journals, this status may be a normal part of the process and does not necessarily indicate positive or negative comments from the reviewers.

※ If this status appears after the second or third review under review during the revision process, it is part of the regular process and is unrelated to the specific reviewer comments.

The above is solely a summary of my personal experience. If there are any inaccuracies, I welcome everyone's guidance and exchange of knowledge!

So far, as of June 2021, the submission was made, and a reviewer was assigned for a major revision. Immediately after the response, the submission was rejected due to a high rate of repetition. Upon investigating the reason, it was found that the repetition was due to a preprint issue. An email was sent to the editor-in-chief to appeal and explain the situation. The editor-in-chief agreed to give it another chance and assigned one reviewer. After the response, it was sent for review by two reviewers. This process went back and forth three times, lasting for six months. It was the longest and most painful experience in the author's submission career. Multiple revisions were made repeatedly, but the final reviewer still disagreed with publication, while one agreed to accept it. The editor-in-chief ignored the disagreement and chose to accept it.
