The impact factor of the Journal of Energy Chemistry increases dramatically every year. I have to say, the small research group has a good idea and the content they produce is substantial. They have molecular dynamics simulations and in-situ electrochemical tests, but they don't even send it for review. In the email, it says that the rejection rate of JEC is 85% and the impact factor is 9.6, but I have checked and even found impact factors above 13. However, I downloaded two articles from 2022 in the same field as mine that were accepted, and there was nothing innovative about them. The figures in the main text were also ordinary. Our laboratory has submitted to JEC four times, and I have personally submitted two papers, but none of them were sent for review. Other research groups just need to have a famous researcher's name on it, and it gets sent for review and accepted. What does it matter if the impact factor is 9.6? If they publish fewer articles and have more reviews in each issue, they can manipulate it and make it higher. Fast rejections are also a good thing because it doesn't delay submitting to the next journal. ACS journals, regardless of their quality or influence, are very good. Although many have been suppressed to the second tier, do they really care about manipulating the impact factor?

Take a closer look! In early 2022, I submitted a frivolous paper and it was instantly rejected. Then I submitted a serious paper, thinking it would easily be accepted, but it received major revisions (possibly due to overestimating my own work). Among the feedback, one negative comment mentioned that our level was not high enough, which surprised me. I underestimated the development trend of JEC based on the quality of previous papers; they have indeed made rapid progress, and the rigor of their review process is not inferior to journals like JMCA. The editorial team consists of many talented young individuals, and I have high hopes for the development of JEC.

There were 5 reviewers (4 revisions and 1 rejection), and the editor requested major revisions.
