I have already published two papers this year, so I wanted to share a bit.

The first one was submitted in February and accepted on May 1st after one major revision. The whole process took about three months and involved two reviewers.

The second one was submitted on June 30th and accepted on December 25th after one major revision and one minor revision. The whole process took about six months and involved three reviewers. However, it stayed with the editor for a month at the beginning, probably because they couldn't find reviewers.

Firstly, the efficiency of this journal's editors has always been high. Once you make revisions, it is usually under review the next day. Once the reviewers' comments are received, the editor's decision is usually made the following day. Secondly, the journal's review process is considered fast, but it greatly depends on the reviewers. In my case, the second review took five months. I have seen many comments where revisions were requested by the editors before peer review, but I haven't encountered that personally, probably because I conduct a lot of experiments. The editors seem to prefer comparisons with the state of the art (SOTA).

I haven't submitted to many other journals personally, but if I were to recommend one, it would be this one.

Basically, a response will be given within forty days. The first review involved four reviewers who provided 24 comments. In the second review, two reviewers agreed to accept the submission, but also provided two major revision suggestions. After revisions were made, the paper was accepted directly within 39 days.

In 2021, the Impact Factor (IF) was 6.9, close to 7.0. In 2022, the paper was upgraded to Zone 2 in the Chinese Academy of Sciences evaluation system. Based on this trend, it is unlikely to fall out of Zone 2 for at least the next two years.
