I submitted the manuscript at the beginning of December, and it is still "With editor" now. I have sent a reminder email but it hasn't been effective. Is this situation normal?

Currently still under editing, is it normal?

静静wj 2022-01-22

I still have no news until now, still in "with editor" status.

DLY_FF 2022-01-19

It has been two months for me as well. May I ask if you have any news?

Han Xiaoyou 2022-01-16

Can I apply to add more authors after the first review? I just received the major revision comments, but I feel that it's not enough time for me to make the changes alone in two months. I want to invite a fellow colleague to revise together.

静静wj 2022-01-13

It is really too slow. It has been almost two months since submission, and it is still in "with editor" status...

路遥&宇欣 2022-01-05

It's obviously fake.

ai小学僧 2022-01-03

Comrade, I see that it will take about 4 months for you to submit for review. Have you urged it?

静静wj 2022-01-03

May I ask how many months you have been rejected? I have been submitting for one and a half months and it is still with the editor. It's too slow.

I feel like I wrote it pretty badly 555 (a way to express crying or sadness in online communication)

Initial draft 2020.10.28
First review 2021.1.19 with comments returned. Major revisions (two months deadline for modifications). Returned on 3.18.
Second review 6.9 with comments returned. Major revisions (two months deadline for modifications). Returned on 7.12.
Third review 9.22 with comments returned. Minor revisions (one month deadline for modifications). Returned on 10.12.
Fourth review 11.18 with comments returned. Minor revisions and editorial decision (one month deadline for modifications). Returned on 11.26.
Accepted on 12.2.

In the first round, there were three reviewers named A, B, and C, all of whom were very professional. Two reviewers (A and C) requested additional experiments, while reviewer B mainly focused on the rigor of the symbol system. This was the first time seeing B's reviewing method of making annotations on the PDF, with a total of over twenty comments.

In the second round, reviewers B and C continued to focus on the rigor of the symbol system, as well as requesting detailed explanations of certain viewpoints in the main text. Reviewer B provided over twenty comments, while reviewer C suggested extending the proposed method to other tasks.

In the third round, reviewer B continued to focus on the rigor of the symbol system, as well as requesting detailed explanations of certain results in the experimental section.

In the fourth round, reviewer B made minor corrections for typos. The editor-in-chief requested reducing the references to conferences and arXiv and increasing the references to journal articles.

Overall, the quality of the article improved significantly. Encountering reviewers like B is indeed rare, and although it was challenging, it truly pushed for excellence in the quality of the article.

Is it too scary? Directly hired? Are you a top-tier writer?

It's really too slow! It would be more appropriate to start submitting to this kind of journal one and a half years in advance!

It has been 14 months since the first submission until now.

I would like to ask for advice. It has been two months since the completion of the Required Reviews Completed after minor revisions. What should I do? The minor revision comments include one reviewer agreeing to publish and the other asking a few small questions.

Top journals in the field of pattern recognition and artificial intelligence include Pattern Recognition (PR) and another one is PAMI. PR was established early and has high recognition within the field. PAMI introduced artificial intelligence earlier, resulting in a higher impact factor than PR. In recent years, PR has also been adjusting its direction, with an increasing number of papers focusing on AI hot topics. The impact factor of PR has been continuously rising, and it is expected to exceed 10 points next year with a high probability. The review process of PR has become slower in the past two years, mainly due to the significant increase in submissions. For the multi-task learning-related paper I submitted, it took a whole year from submission to acceptance. This year, I have also reviewed several articles for PR and noticed a phenomenon: the speed of the first review is relatively normal (usually within 3 months), but if major revisions are requested, PR will seek another reviewer (usually the fourth reviewer), which significantly prolongs the process by approximately 3-7 months. Therefore, when submitting a paper, one should be mentally prepared and strive to satisfy all reviewers if major revisions are requested during the first review.

May I ask how long does it typically take for your required reviewers to complete the decision in process? Also, how long does the decision in process usually take? Thank you.

Okay, okay, thank you!

When I submitted my contribution, it seems that there was no mention of plagiarism check. After submitting it online, it took over a month to be reviewed, and the subsequent process did not involve the clause of duplication rate. I am sorry, but I cannot answer your question.

静静wj 2021-11-17

Hello, I would like to ask, what is the general requirement for the plagiarism rate in PR? Will it be rejected if it is above 20%?

一碗浊酒 2021-11-11

Doing three-dimensional visual aspects
5.11 Submitted manuscript
8.02 Major revision (Three reviewers, all quite professional, should be in the same direction, with a total of more than 20 questions, replied with about 15 pages, given two months)
9.11 Revised
10.15 Accepted
10.28 Published
This time it feels relatively smooth, mainly because I made serious revisions during the major revision and also used Elsevier's official editing service, which resulted in a proofreading certificate (the proofreading results were okay, but the certificate is the most important thing, haha).

I want to ask, after being hired, the editor sent an email saying that there are some missing files of the original figures and bibliography references in the latex file, and asked me to submit them. However, they didn't provide any submission portal. What should I do? Has anyone encountered this before?

丹宁执着 2021-11-08

I remember that after I reached the "Under review" stage, I waited for over a month, and it changed to "required reviewer completed". After waiting for about another week, it became "decision in process", and then on the same day, I was notified that it was accepted.
