I submitted my manuscript in the first half of last year. The first review took about 1.5 months. I submitted the revised version on September 1st, 2020, and it has been under review for almost a year now. A few days ago, I sent an inquiry email, and the editor replied that one reviewer has provided their comments. Another reviewer has agreed to review the manuscript but has not yet provided their comments, and their deadline for the review is September 2nd. The submission process has indeed been lengthy.

SLRAN 2021-08-26

It has been six months, and there has been no change in the review status. Has anyone encountered a similar situation? Do you know what this situation is?

SWRO 2021-08-25

I have published two articles before, and it is definitely not as easy as this person said. The review process is very strict, and the questions raised are very pertinent. Each time the article is revised, there is a significant improvement. The response is written in great detail, deserving the status of a top journal in the field of ocean engineering.

Hello, may I ask if there is no option to select Classifications in the submission process for OE?

Asinsex 2021-08-08

OE has already become the industry's recognized top-tier journal, with a huge volume of publications. Surprisingly, the acceptance rate reached 42% last year, approaching 50%. Personally, I feel that it is not as challenging as CE, APOR, and other journals, and the quality of articles is also inconsistent. It is mainly used for casual reading.

Submission: 2020115
Received initial review comments: 20200229, resubmitted one month later
Received second review comments: 20200517, resubmitted two weeks later
Received third review comments: 20200630, resubmitted one week later
Accepted, 20200805.

Throughout the submission process, Editor-in-Chief Professor Atilla Incecik personally handled the paper, and the efficiency was very high. The paper was usually sent for review the day after the submission, and the comments were returned the next day after receiving them. Now, let's complain about the reviewers. There were two reviewers, one was a junior colleague who provided detailed and professional comments that were helpful for the paper. However, it seemed like they wanted to squeeze every bit out of our work, as they would delve deeper into the issues raised in the previous round with each subsequent round of review. The other reviewer was a senior colleague who was not from our field, and they pointed out obvious and basic problems... The three rounds of review resulted in approximately 100 pages of comments... The process of responding to the comments and waiting was truly agonizing...

2020-8 Submission
2020-12 First review for revision
2021-4 Second review for revision
It has been 10 months now and the outcome is still unknown. The reviewer for the first review has stopped reviewing, and the reviewer for the second review has also stopped reviewing (the change in dates should have resulted in a change in reviewers). It's either promotion or resignation for the peppers, and I'm extremely anxious. From start to finish, it has been almost 10 months, including the initial drafting and experimental work for the project. Can the editors and reviewers be more efficient?

nx 2021-07-01

I have sent several emails, but it's like throwing a stone into the sea.

lwjjtt 2021-07-01

Not back yet, today marks exactly 10 months.

nx 2021-06-30

Has your result come back now? It has been over 8 months for me.

offshore 2021-06-25

Fairly normal, the most recent one, submitted in January, the first review took 5 months, just received the reviewer's comments... Sent an email once during this period, but did not receive any substantial reply~

SLRAN 2021-06-17

2021.3.3, under review started; it has been three and a half months, and there has been no change in status. Has anyone else experienced this situation?

Engineering Machinery Dynamics Characteristics Direction, submitted on 9th February 2021. The current status in the system is "Required Reviews Completed," and the time of this status is displayed as 23rd April 2021. Does anyone familiar with this journal know if this status means it is still under review? How long is the review process? I have sent an email to the journal editor but have not received a response.

gan 2021-06-04

Received the revision comments on June 3rd and was given a month to make the changes. It feels pretty good to have a little more time, both before and after the two months.

I submitted a paper on the topic of storm surge, which is considered relevant to this journal.
The review process took nearly 5 months, which is quite long.
The experts provided valuable comments and suggestions on every section, from the title to the abstract, significantly improving the article.
The editor initially gave 4 weeks for revisions, but later realized it was not enough and granted an additional 3 weeks. (Added 200 sets of numerical models and had further discussions)
After the acceptance, the process went smoothly and quickly.
In summary, the journal is quite good in its field, with professional and cooperative editors. The requirements were generally met and not overly strict.
From the process of responding to the review comments, I learned a lot from the experts, including new perspectives and logical coherence.
As long as you take the review comments seriously and respond to each one carefully, the experts will not give you a hard time.

Wow, it's been 5 months already, and my first trial hasn't been concluded yet.

gan 2021-05-25

Posted on April 13th, under review on April 19th, required reviews completed on May 18th. Currently still waiting for the results, it seems to be very quick.

nx 2021-05-22

This is really slow, it has been 7 months.

lwjjtt 2021-05-19

How is everyone's manuscript review speed recently? My second review has been 8.5 months and there's been no progress.

Directional Traditional Petroleum, the subject direction tends to be towards the ocean, deciding to submit to this journal on 20.08.16.
On 21.03.13, the first review results came out. One senior colleague provided 5 suggestions without any particularly constructive advice, while one junior colleague wrote more than twenty, which made me nervous. It seems like the junior colleague wants to thoroughly criticize my work, so I can only politely reply and make modifications (some things need to be approved by my supervisor). Finished the revisions in 3 days and submitted on the 16th.
On 21.04.11, the second review came back. The senior colleague had no objections, but the junior colleague noticed that I missed a number in one of my formulas. The editor was very friendly and urged me to make the correction quickly, expediting the review process. I received the revised manuscript on the same day.
On 21.04.14, I received the acceptance notice.
Although the direction is outdated, the work is indeed quite innovative. The seven months for the first review was really agonizing, especially considering there were only two reviewers. I am very grateful to the editor and the reviewers for their affirmation of my work.

Already rejected, submitted in January 2020. The initial review took 3 months and one reviewer had no comments while another requested major revisions without specifying the specific issues, only stating that the writing was not good. Then it took another 3 months for the second review, which also resulted in a request for revisions without providing any specific feedback, just a simple statement of rejection. Then, I had to wait until March 2021 for the third review, which again concluded with rejection. I felt devastated, as if I couldn't satisfy the requirements no matter how much or how little I wrote. It was disheartening. The third reviewer asked why numbers were added after the typhoon names, questioning its relevance since there is already a universal typhoon code. It felt a little unprofessional. The review process felt quite lengthy and time-consuming. However, it could also be due to my own shortcomings, perhaps my writing was indeed not up to par and my language skills need improvement.

Lambert 2021-03-25

May I ask how many reviewers are there and how is the reviewing process so fast, OP?

lwjjtt 2021-03-23

So we are in the same boat, I sent the revised version back on September 1st, and it has been 7 months already, but still no response. I dare not and am too lazy to remind them anymore.

I submitted it in September last year, but there is still no news. It has been showing "Submissions Being Processed" all this time. Should I ask my boss to send an email to follow up?

小红0509 2021-03-08

Posted on December 7, 2020, sent for external review on December 9th; received revised comments on February 14, 2021, from three reviewers, including two minor revisions and one major revision, all of which were accepted, totaling around 20 comments; submitted to the editorial department on February 26, 2021, after nearly two weeks of revisions, second review completed on March 2nd, and acceptance notice received on March 7th.

The expert opinions are quite fair and may require additional experiments and simulation cases. The quality of the article will significantly improve after making the requested revisions. Perhaps there are not many SCI papers in the field of ocean engineering, so the number of articles has increased in recent years. I hope the journal will continue to thrive.

lwjjtt 2021-03-01

The first trial took 1.5 months, and it has been extended to 6 months now. There is still no feedback received, indeed it's too slow.
