The first review took 2.5 months. There were two reviewers, one of whom was a junior colleague and quite professional. Their suggestions were also good. The other reviewer seemed to have a background in statistics and their comments were not very relevant to the main points.

The second review took 3 months and two additional reviewers were added. They were more positive about the revisions and overall feedback was positive, although they raised a few minor issues.

Make sure to file a serious complaint about your communication. This journal editor pays no attention to the corresponding authors, not even the first author. KBS completely shattered my illusion of top journals. It's truly ridiculous (brothers who have successfully and smoothly submitted their articles, please let me vent, please). The reviewers are reckless, publishing their own half-hearted articles, and constantly emphasizing the champion algorithm for you to implement. Do they even know how their publicly available source code performs? And they keep emphasizing CEC 2017. Did you know that your code performs worse than the original algorithm on old datasets? Is it necessary to only run the 2017 dataset? I really want to criticize. They don't even read the papers of two authors, but I have also switched to a different submission.

In the first review, two reviewers were assigned. Reviewer 1 provided some constructive comments, but Reviewer 2 insisted that our method was not significantly different from an existing algorithm (in fact, our results were clearly better and our approach had many differences). Therefore, we focused on addressing the comments of Reviewer 2.

In the second review, Reviewer 1 agreed to accept the paper, while Reviewer 3 provided some suggestions for improvement and stated that it could be accepted if the modifications were made. However, Reviewer 2 still insisted that our algorithm was similar to existing ones and claimed that we did not perform statistical analysis (even though every chart in the paper had statistical results). They also believed that our algorithm could not outperform all other algorithms (although we explicitly mentioned in some test cases that our algorithm was not as good as certain algorithms, Reviewer 2 ignored this). Based on this reviewer's opinion, the editor decided to reject the paper.

We did not expect to receive such a result after waiting for 10 months for the first review. We sent numerous reminders during this period, but the status only changed after each reminder. We will not submit to KBS in the future, as it is a poor quality journal.
