I'm so fed up. I submitted it the day before Christmas, specifically choosing a Chinese editor. It has been almost a month now and it is still "with editor." Another article from our group was submitted on the same day and it was already under review. It's really frustrating how some people get preferential treatment.

I want to ask, does "under review" mean it has been submitted for review? How did it go under review so quickly?

Submitted two days ago for review. After a month, received reviewer comments - one rejection, one minor revision, and one major revision suggested by the editor. Took a month to make the revisions and requested an extension. Then received a response, first reviewer requested minor revisions. Second reviewer accepted the paper directly, and after a week, the second round of review concluded and the paper was accepted for publication.

Best wishes to everyone.

The first reviewer mainly pointed out that my English is not native and there were some minor errors, so I hope everyone can learn from this and pay attention to details.

The journal was very fast. Keep up the good work, everyone.

What happened in the end?

Reply 421: Finally received it. Interestingly, it was on the same day last year when I received my first WR. After adding a new reviewer for the second review of this JHM paper, it took over a month for the third review comments, which required significant revisions. One reviewer had no comments, while another had only one suggestion. The reviewer with the most comments in the second review carefully provided over thirty suggestions, but they were all quite mild and mainly focused on improving the language. After returning from Christmas break, I discovered that my assigned editor was no longer available in the system. In desperation, I selected Editor He, and three days later, the paper was directly accepted. Editor He also mentioned that they would no longer accept papers in this direction in the future because it does not involve direct hazardous effects but rather indirect ones. So, I should consider myself fortunate. However, I am also unlikely to pursue this direction in the future. Editor He also mentioned that my assigned editor, Daniel Tsang, is no longer with JHM (who is no longer with JHM), although he still appears on the list of associate editors. Therefore, for those planning to submit in the near future, please note that you cannot choose Professor Tsang in the submission system.
