The first review was quick, less than a month! Three reviewers, two asked relatively easy questions to answer, and one asked for additional experiments. I responded to the reviewers seriously and wrote a 16-page response letter. I believe the reviewers were impressed by my sincerity and the paper was accepted smoothly! My senior fellow said that response letters should be at least 2 pages, and the more, the better! I've seen someone who wrote over 60 pages in a response letter, and I guess the reviewers were too lazy to read it, so they accepted it directly. It's a true story!
