The first review came back for major revisions with four reviewers, all of whom were quite professional. Their suggestions were very fair, and after careful revisions, the paper was resubmitted. Surprisingly, when the second round of feedback came back, the journal had added two new reviewers. The original reviewers had all accepted the revised manuscript and praised the improvements made in response to their comments. However, one of the new reviewers had a negative bias and recommended rejection outright. In the end, the editor requested major revisions. It must be said that the reviewer who recommended rejection did not seem to have read the paper carefully or provided professional and polite comments. It seemed like they were simply rejecting for the sake of rejection. As a result, my opinion of this journal has greatly diminished.

While waiting, I read a lot of experiences shared by others. Now that my own paper has been accepted, I would like to share my story:

I submitted the paper on July 13th, 2021. The required reviews were completed on August 31st, and a major revision was requested on October 13th. I made the revisions on December 13th. On February 13th, 2022, the decision was in process, and on February 15th, a major revision was requested again. I made the revisions on February 23rd. A minor revision was requested on April 1st, and I made the final revisions on the 6th of April, and it was accepted on the same day.

For the final minor revision, there were no comments from the reviewers. The editor only requested the removal of the references suggested by the reviewers and a reduction in the word count. The overall reduction was 25%, with each section reduced by 2% (but not equal to). I had to use iThenticate for plagiarism check, which cost $100 on the official website. I bought it for 65 yuan on Taobao, but you should decide for yourself whether to buy it from Taobao.

The whole process took nine months, and although the reviewers were professional, there was some bias. Fortunately, the editor took the initiative to request the removal. The journal's speed is indeed not fast.
