The six additional reviewers added later, the first four of them asked me to cite their articles, and the last two accepted it directly. Only the opinions of the experts in the first round of reviews had an impact. Based on my guess, Reviewer 2 is involved in internal combustion engine simulation, while my article is about macro energy economics. He first questioned the reliability of the yearbook data and asked me to conduct on-site research. Then he doubted the validity of the model. After I cited two articles from Econometrica, he asked me to prove it from scratch. Then, he asked me to cite his article on internal combustion engines, and later asked me to consider the efficiency of capital operation. All four reviews had only one opinion, which was rejection and very abstract. In the fourth round of reviews, I couldn't bear it anymore and started bombarding the editorial department with emails. I sent 125 emails in 20 days, but received no response. Then, I revised it and it was accepted yesterday. Reviewers 8 and 9 were added, and Reviewer 2 was intercepted, but the article was accepted.

The initial submission was made to Applied Energy. Both my senior colleagues and I were asked by the editor to revise the introduction before proceeding. However, the editor mistakenly rejected my submission without knowing the situation, so I decided to switch and submit to Energy instead, to save time.

Both journals are considered upgraded version of Tier 1 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and have a great reputation. The first round of review in Applied Energy had an average of 7 to 8 questions per reviewer, all of which were very professional and in-depth. It took over a month to make significant revisions before my supervisor was satisfied with the manuscript and allowed me to resubmit. The second round of review was a bit disappointing in terms of speed, as it took over a month to receive feedback, which mainly consisted of minor issues, including providing additional information for a few "not validated" references.

I forgot the specific timelines for the "with editor" and "under review" stages, but typically the "with editor" stage doesn't exceed one week.
