Excuse me, do you have any news now? It's been two weeks and you're still editing there.

This is the second article published in this journal. The first article was during my PhD studies in 2015. At that time, the process was slower and not open access. It took about 5 months to be accepted, and I was very happy at that time!

This is my first article after starting work. I have a relatively good understanding of the journal and have a strong emotional connection to it. The specific process is as follows:

June 16, 2021: Submission
June 26, 2021: Under review
July 20, 2021: Feedback received with 24 comments from two reviewers. One expert distinguished between critical comments and general comments. The comments were very to the point and constructive.

August 10, 2021: Resubmission
August 20, 2021: Under review
September 12, 2021: Further revisions requested. One of the reviewers was not satisfied with four of my modifications. I made the revisions and submitted them on the same day.

September 17, 2021: Acceptance

Overall, the process was relatively fast. After submitting, it is important to be patient and not rush. Personally, I believe that the research level of this journal is not on par with Nature Communications or Acta Materialia. However, it has a good reputation and is well-recognized within the field. One advantage is its high impact factor. Unlike the journal Applied Surface Science, which received a warning last year, this journal did not. Additionally, this journal is not comparable to the MDPI's open access journals in terms of quality.

This tutor is too poor, completely not taking care of the students.

Hello, do authors need to confirm after submitting their contributions?

一区top* 2021-09-03

Hello, may I ask if author confirmation is required after submission?

Gee.Figo 2021-08-21

It has been a week since the submission, and it is still in the submission status. I don't know if the status will change after all the authors confirm. I asked the customer service, and they said that confirmation from all authors is required.

Angela&Yoga 2021-08-09

Same, it has been five weeks, with editor.

On Lethub, when searching for the journal name MATERIALS & DESIGN, two options will appear with different ISSN numbers: 0261-3069 and 0264-1275. These two journals are actually the same, with 0264-1275 being the outdated version of information. The journal has now been completely transformed into an open-access journal, and the correct and updated information is under ISSN 0261-3069. It is suggested to remove the version 0264-1275 to avoid misleading the public.

7.7编辑一直到现在,三周多了,怎么这么慢 (7.7 editing has been going on until now, it's been over three weeks, why is it so slow)

May I ask if you have any results? I have also been waiting for a month and it is still in the hands of the editor.

dhp 2021-07-19

Hello, have you received your results yet? Mine has also been in the editing process for two weeks.

2021, 5, 28 submission
2021, 6, 1 external review
2021, 7, 1 minor revisions
2021, 7, 2 revised
2021, 7, 3 accepted (notification of $2200 open access fee)
This paper has been rejected multiple times by journals in zone 2 and zone 3. I noticed that it was submitted quickly, and now I understand that it was open access. No wonder it was accepted so easily and quickly, just pay and you're in. It wasted $2200 of my money, and my advisor scolded me. Fuck your ancestors.

Does anyone know why many articles from this journal cannot be found in the SCI? In 2020, only two articles can be retrieved. Is it possible that the articles published in this journal are not necessarily indexed? ??? Seeking advice from experts!

Angela&Yoga 2021-07-06

I don't know why it has been two weeks since I submitted, but it is still "with editor." It feels like the process is not as fast as before.

wajue 2021-06-24

Yes, this journal is a completely open-access journal. Lethub is not updated, and it is similar to journals such as Sensors, Materials, Applied Science, and IEEE Access. However, this journal has a higher impact factor and ranking, making it suitable for people who want to publish without much effort. It can be used for various qualification review materials. Currently, it has not been flagged, but it feels like it may be soon. It is still better to submit to non-open access journals since there is no real need to publish openly unless you are like Nature. In the larger academic environment, many people still look down upon open-access journals, even if they have high impact factors and rankings.

zhiku 2021-06-18

This is an open-source journal. It was not open-source before, but it became open-source three years ago. These two are the same journal. It costs 2200 dollars per article. The quality of the articles has decreased rapidly compared to before it became open-source, considering they used to cost over ten thousand dollars per article. They want to make money, of course. They know they need a high impact factor and to be indexed in prestigious databases in order to attract a large number of submissions from Chinese researchers, as they need scholarships and professional titles. That's why they manipulate the impact factor to be very high (clearly not matching the journal's actual level). If you also have plans in this regard, you can give it a try and submit your article.

I am a genius with editor for 10 days.

Ltoy 2021-06-18

submit to journal两天

"submit to journal两天" translates to "submit to journal in two days" in English.

tiam 2021-06-13

7 days after submission, it is still "Submitted to Journal". What's going on?

魏无羡 2021-06-11

I have been thinking about this magazine for many years. I submitted a review in December last year, and chose the category I for submission. However, by the end of the year, it was changed to category II, which was disappointing. After submitting, it took more than a month for the editor to review. I asked the editor once and was told that they were still looking for reviewers. After about two months, it was returned for revisions. The reviewer was a colleague in the same field, and there were not many issues, so I thought everything would be fine. However, after it was returned, it went through another round of review, and it was not reviewed by the same person as before. So, I had to make more changes. It took half a year, but finally, it was accepted. Looking at past comments, I thought it would be quick, and other articles seemed to be quick as well. But this time, it was slower. Good things come to those who wait. This is my second review in life, and I am thankful for the team's effort. There is always a reward for hard work.

Andy 2021-05-25

Yes, I went through "required reviews completed". Decision was made three days after this status. At this status, I think the editor can ask for new reviewers or make a decision. Good luck!

xunM 2021-05-24

May I ask if you have experienced the state of "Required Reviews Completed"? How long does it usually last? It has been in this state for over two weeks now, is it because not all co-authors have confirmed their submissions?

Andy 2021-05-22

Yes, they asked me to confirm that I am the author. It took one day for the status to change from "submitted" to "with editor." Then, it took approximately two weeks for it to change to the "under review" status.

hehe 2021-05-21

Excuse me, now is it required for all authors to confirm? Submissions are sent to the journal within a week.

Andy 2021-05-20

The following text has been translated into English:

The review process was very quick. There was only one reviewer who provided some comments on the presentation. After making revisions, the article was accepted within two weeks.

The accepted article for publication is titled "Architected implant designs for long bones: Advantages of minimal surface-based topologies" and can be accessed at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.matdes.2021.109838.

MR Chang 2021-05-08

The text translates to: "The revision does not mention major and minor. Is this considered a minor repair or a major repair?"

倔强的奥斯特 2021-05-08

May I ask if you have submitted it for review now? I have been waiting for 10 days and it is still in the hands of the editor.
