Forensic Science International is the flagship journal in the prestigious Forensic Science International family, publishing the most innovative, cutting-edge, and influential contributions across the forensic sciences. Fields include: forensic pathology and histochemistry, chemistry, biochemistry and toxicology, biology, serology, odontology, psychiatry, anthropology, digital forensics, the physical sciences, firearms, and document examination, as well as investigations of value to public health in its broadest sense, and the important marginal area where science and medicine interact with the law.

The submission cycle is very long, and the classification of major categories is also disadvantaged. It seems that the external review of this journal is done by experts one by one. The time status will change during the initial review. In general, three experts are required for review, and it takes about three to four months for the initial review to come out. The second review also takes over two months, and I even encountered a third review, which surprisingly took over a month as well. It is indeed very slow, but the experts really scrutinize every word and are very serious.
