Some official data from journals: the acceptance rate is between 15-20%, but if you are from mainland China, your chances of acceptance are even lower, not exceeding 10%. Moreover, more than two-thirds of rejections are decided by the editors without sending the paper for external review. It takes an average of 4 months from submission to the first external review decision, and close to a year for acceptance. However, one good thing about EJOR is that the speed of editorial handling, especially in the review process, is among the fastest among many OR journals. This is because the number of authors (i.e., reviewers) is huge, so there won't be a situation where reviewers cannot be found. The main reason why most OR journals are slow is that finding reviewers is really, really, really difficult.

My boss said that people in the OR/MS/OM field can be divided into four categories. The first category is those who can publish in UTD 24; the second category is those who can publish in EJOR but not UTD 24; the third category is those who can publish in ABS 3-star journals but not EJOR; the fourth category is those who cannot publish in any of them...

Since the number of publications per year is significantly higher than UTD 24, even though it is an ABS 4-star journal, it is relatively easier to publish in it. Since UTD 24 is still relatively rare in China, being able to publish in EJOR is considered a ceiling level for ordinary people in the field of management science in China.
