Summary: Using portion control tools such as smaller bowls, spoons, or calibrated plates can significantly impact food intake by reducing serving sizes and help with weight loss, especially driven by calibrated tableware. However, there was no impact on awareness of appropriate portion sizes, indicating the need for further research in this area.

Summary: Previously, studies have suggested that intermittent fasting may attenuate an increase in appetite during weight loss. However, our systematic review and meta-analysis found no clear evidence to support this. The results indicate that intermittent fasting does not mitigate the increase in appetite associated with continuous energy restriction.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of food liking on portion selection in children aged 7-10 years old. The results showed that portion selection was predicted by food liking, and not affected by food energy density. Moreover, the selected portion was positively related to children's intake, indicating that liking plays a role in promoting consumption of larger portions. The study highlights the importance of children's food preferences in determining their portion selections and intake.

Summary: Results from systematic review and meta-analysis suggest that consumption of whole grain foods, compared with refined grain foods, significantly impacts subjective appetite, which may partly explain the inverse associations between whole grain intake and risk of overweight, obesity, and weight gain over time.

Summary: This study analyzed the relationship between polymorphisms in ghrelin and leptin receptor genes and dietary intake and appetite assessment. The results showed that these polymorphisms were associated with differential responses to a standardized meal, characterized by higher postprandial ghrelin levels and increased dietary sugar intake.

Summary: Portion sizes of meals have been increasing and this is related to the onset of obesity. Little research has been done on the influence of body weight on portion size preferences. Factors such as gender, age, hunger, and eating behaviors contribute to portion size choices.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on appetite control in individuals with binge-type behavior. The results showed that tDCS did not have a significant impact on hunger, food consumption, and food cravings in females with mild-to-moderate binge eating behavior. Only explicit liking and wanting for high-fat sweet foods differed significantly between the active and sham tDCS conditions, but these differences disappeared when baseline hunger was controlled for. These findings suggest that tDCS may not be effective in individuals with sub-clinical binge eating behavior. Further research is needed to explore the effects in clinical and sub-clinical populations prone to overconsumption and weight gain.

Summary: Internally regulated eating style, driven by internal bodily sensations, has gained attention in literature and health practice recently. However, attempts to conceptualize it have been fragmented, leading to a lack of clarity on its defining characteristics. This paper identifies and describes the full spectrum of characteristics necessary for internally regulated eating, introducing a new theoretical framework to explore the associations and mechanisms contributing to this eating style.

Availability of healthy options at home is positively associated with adolescents' healthy eating habits outside the home.

Summary: Experts believe that the line between food content posted by social media users and food companies is blurred. Adolescents' processing of SMFM may be mostly implicit, involving social comparison, emotional engagement, and attaching symbolic meanings to foods. Mediating factors and adolescent-specific and SMFM-specific moderating factors potentially influencing adolescents' response to SMFM were summarized in a Social Ecological model.

Summary: The research examined the construct validity of two self-report measures related to sensitivity to bodily signals of satiation and hunger, finding that these measures were related to behavioral indicators but not associated with satiation and hunger thresholds. The study also found a positive association between a generic self-report of interoceptive awareness and sensitivity to physiological signals of satiation and hunger.

Summary: The surrounding environment plays a significant role in well-being and behavior, and the sensory experience of a place has not been systematically measured and characterized. The current study developed the Sensory Walk Questionnaire and tested it in a restaurant environment. The results showed differences in perceived odour and sound intensity, pleasantness of odours, sounds, and visual environment, as well as sensory descriptors between different areas in the restaurant.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of calorie-related information on food choices and reveals that presenting either daily calorie recommendations or specific calorie information can reduce consumers' calorie consumption. However, when both types of information are presented concurrently, this effect is nullified. The study also finds that personality traits, such as extroversion and self-esteem, influence food choices, with extroverts more likely to choose lower-calorie options. Good self-restraint is also linked to lower-calorie choices. These findings highlight the importance of strategic calorie information policies in promoting healthier choices.

Summary: This study explored how the disgust emotion affected adults' obsession with healthy eating. The results showed that women exhibited higher disgust tendencies than men, and men had a lower tendency toward healthy eating obsession. There was a negative correlation between BMI and disgust propensity and sensitivity. People's disgust propensity and obsession with healthy eating increased with age.

Summary: This research explores the impact of key socio-psychological dimensions on individuals' intention to eat insect-based foods. The findings indicate that individuals with higher concern for environmental and ethical sustainability are more open to eating insects, particularly if they are treated ethically. The integrated attitude-food-intention model used in this study represents an innovative approach in consumer behavior research.
