Summary: Transcytosis of polymeric IgA and IgM mediated by pIgR is essential for mucosal immunity. The J chain plays a crucial role in the formation and recognition of polymeric IgA and IgM by pIgR, while MZB1 may act as a regulator to facilitate IgA and IgM transcytosis.

Summary: In this study, researchers investigated the synthesis of intrathecal FLC-k in cerebrospinal fluid samples from 296 patients. They found that FLC-k synthesis can occur independently of the antibody class produced, and can help distinguish between an inflammatory process and blood contamination. This suggests that additional determination of FLC-k in quotient diagrams may aid in clinical diagnostics.

Summary: The protein pERp1 plays a crucial role in folding IgA, IgM, integrins, and maintaining ER calcium homeostasis and plasma cell mobility. Upregulated in autoimmune diseases, pERp1 is a potential therapeutic target. Belonging to the CNPY family, these ER resident saposin-like proteins are implicated in protein folding, despite lacking lipid-binding activity typically associated with saposins. The high-resolution crystal structure of human pERp1 reveals unique structural elements and sheds light on the role of CNPY proteins in ER protein folding.

Summary: This study identified critical amino acid residues of human Fc mu R for binding to IgM Fc, as well as the effects of certain residues on receptor expression and IgM binding. Results suggest specific sites and stretches within the Fc mu R structure that are essential for its proper function and interaction with IgM.

Summary: Thyroid receptor signaling plays a crucial role in physiological processes and its disruption can lead to severe disorders. Detection of thyroid receptor ligands is important for toxicology and pharmacology. A biosensor system was developed using cell-free protein synthesis and reengineered with different reporter systems, reducing the cost by 60%. This could potentially be a promising platform for high throughput screening and portable detection of human thyroid receptor ligands.

Summary: This review summarizes the intricate relationship between liposomes and their biological environments, with a focus on the regulatory effects of immunoglobulin M (IgM) on the in vivo performance of liposomes. Corresponding solutions to evade IgM-mediated opsonization for safe and efficient drug delivery are also discussed.

Summary: This study reveals the association between site-specific high-mannose modification, IgM antibody affinity, and structural disulfide polymerization. The combination of IgM and mannose receptor amplifies the phagocytic ability of phagocytes, contributing to the immune defense against microbial infection.

Summary: FcRn has been shown to efficiently transport biologics across the nasal epithelial barrier in multiple studies reviewed. Limited studies have evaluated the potential toxicity of intranasal delivery of biologics, but they all indicate its safety. Further research is needed to fully understand the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of biologics after intranasal delivery.

Summary: This study quantified VDJ gene usage levels in the unmutated IgM repertoires of 45 macaques, revealing similar patterns of gene usage among macaque subgroups and individuals. Unlike humans, macaques showed a higher usage of IGHV4 family genes and evidence of evolutionary expansion of this gene family.

Summary: The study identified two IgM heavy chain sub-isotypes and two light chain variants in the serum of giant grouper, purified by different methods. Through genomic contig and cDNA sequencing, the research revealed molecular differences in the IgM structure of giant grouper. Additionally, the study corrected NCBI annotations and proposed the presence of IgM sub-isotypes as a conserved trait among species of the Epinephelus genus.

Summary: The study assessed the accuracy of three rapid tests for detecting SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in saliva and plasma samples. The tests showed higher accuracy in plasma samples. Saliva can be used as a simple supplementary method, especially in severe and critical cases, with important sensitivity and reliability.
