Summary: A new antimicrobial waterborne paint formulation based on a Schiff base ligand and its complexes of UO22+ ion as additives were prepared and evaluated, showing good antimicrobial effects against Gram-negative, Gram-positive bacteria and fungi in wet or dry coated films. The prepared antimicrobial additives also improved the film performance and enhanced physical and mechanical resistance of the coated film.

Summary: Novel mixed-ligands complexes of cytosine and isatin, as well as cytosine capped silver nanoparticles, were synthesized and characterized using spectroscopic techniques and thermal analyses. The complexes exhibited high thermal stability and strong antibacterial activity, while the silver nanoparticles showed significant antifungal activity against A. flavus. Density functional theory and molecular docking studies revealed the interaction sites with a selected protein of S. aureus, supporting the experimental findings of superior inhibitory activity for a specific Cu(II) complex.

Summary: Redox-active azothioformamides (ATFs) containing NNCS 1,3-heterodiene motif were synthesized and tested. The ATF compounds showed little antimicrobial activity alone, but exhibited cytotoxicity against lung carcinoma cells and leukemia cells. When coordinated with copper(I) and silver(I), the ATFs showed antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity against fungi and cancer cells.

Summary: The synthesis of two novel silver(I) complexes of miconazole with new counter ions was conducted, showing significant antimicrobial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and yeasts, surpassing silver sulfadiazine and silver salts. The complex containing the nitrate counter ion exhibited the highest antimicrobial activity, while all silver(I) complexes of miconazole demonstrated better inhibition of yeast growth compared to silver sulfadiazine, silver salts, and miconazole. Additionally, the synthesized complexes showed good or moderate activity against Gram-negative bacteria when compared to the free ligand.

Summary: Green luminescent terbium complexes were synthesized based on derivatives of 1,10-phenanthroline auxiliary ligand and 1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione (PBD). The complexes displayed four emission peaks under UV excitation, with the hypersensitive peak at 547 nm responsible for the characteristic green emission. Absorption and electrochemical analysis confirmed the potential application of the synthesized complexes in lighting and displays, and their comparable optical and electronic band gaps suggested their use as semiconductor materials.

The non-linear temperature dependence of the Raman modes and the thermal conductivity of the samples are quantitatively analyzed. The research sheds light on the anharmonic behavior of phonons in WSe2 and Co0.5W0.5Se2 crystals.

Summary: Efficient date seed activated carbon was prepared through activation treatment using date seed powder. The activated carbon exhibited excellent iodine adsorption performance, surpassing commercial activated carbon. The adsorption conditions of malachite green from aqueous solutions were investigated, and the Langmuir isotherm was found to be suitable for the adsorption process. The adsorption was chemisorption, endothermic, and unpredictable.

Summary: Zirconium metal organic framework (Zr-MOF) was synthesized by hydrothermal method, and various spectroscopic methods were used for sample characterization. The adsorption of doxorubicin (DOX) onto Zr-MOF was studied. The effects of DOX concentration, contact time, solution pH, and temperature were investigated. The surface properties of Zr-MOF were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The adsorption efficiency of Zr-MOF for DOX was found to be higher at pH 6. The equilibrium isotherms and kinetic data were described using different adsorption models. The docking interactions between DOX and lung cancer and liver cancer receptors were evaluated.

Summary: Material modification with low surface energy can achieve lower surface free energy on micro-and nano-rough structures, which is crucial for developing superhydrophobic surfaces. In this study, attapulgite (APT) was modified with alkylamine, alkylammonium salt, and stearic acid, and the interaction between low surface materials and attapulgite was explained. The results showed that the hydrophobicity of APT was significantly modified by the modifiers, and the surface free energy of the composites first decreased and then increased with increasing molecular number of low surface energy monomers.

Summary: This work presents the development of a simple and highly active heterogeneous Pd catalyst for Suzuki-Miyaura carbon-carbon cross-coupling reaction. The NiPdFe-1 catalyst shows the best activity and stability among the prepared catalysts. It efficiently promotes the coupling reaction between aryl bromide and phenyl boronic acid under mild reaction conditions with high isolated yields.

Various solid-state characterization techniques were used to characterize the prepared system. Molecular level interactions were studied using molecular modeling and ATR-FTIR and 1H NMR. Solubility and dissolution studies showed the benefits of the coamorphous system. The system was found to be stable for a period of five months. Permeation study also demonstrated improved flux for both drugs compared to their crystalline forms. The coamorphous system showed anti-psoriatic and anti-melanogenic activity based on molecular docking results. Overall, the developed CAM-based supersaturated system exhibited improved physicochemical properties and physical stability.
