Summary: Sesamin inhibits hypoxia-induced colorectal cancer angiogenesis via the NF-kappa B/HIF-1 alpha/VEGFA signaling pathway. Sesamin significantly suppressed hypoxia-stimulated CRC angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo. This study provides a theoretical and experimental basis for the use of sesamin in the prevention and treatment of CRC.

Summary: Interferon stimulated gene 15 (ISG15) encodes a 15-kDa ubiquitin-like protein that regulates protein stability and protein-protein interactions through ISGylation. The levels of ISG15 are increased in glioblastoma and upregulated in response to IFN-g stimulus, suggesting the potential central role of ISG15/ISGylation in glioblastoma progression.

Summary: Patients with severe COVID-19 infection exhibit low oxygen levels in affected tissues and blood, requiring an understanding of cellular function under hypoxic conditions. Research shows that activation of monocytes under hypoxia leads to production of proinflammatory cytokines but not type I interferon, which has implications for the pathogenesis of COVID-19.

Summary: Radiotherapy plays a crucial role in breast cancer treatment, but radioresistance limits its effectiveness. This study found that Wogonin can reverse radioresistance in breast cancer by inhibiting the Nrf2/HIF-1α pathway and inducing apoptosis, offering potential strategies to overcome the limitations of current radiotherapy.

Summary: In this study, the therapeutic effects of luteolin (LUT) on lupus nephritis (LN) were investigated. LUT was found to reduce renal oxidative stress and urinary protein levels, improving renal function in mice. The Hypoxia-inducible factor 1a (HIF-1a) pathway was identified as being involved in the mechanism of LUT's therapeutic effects.

Summary: This study found that high fructose intake can lead to oxidative stress and injury in glomerular podocytes. Polydatin, a compound extracted from Chinese herbal medicine, can attenuate this damage by inhibiting the activation of the HIF-1α, NOX4, and SDF-1α/CXCR4 pathways. These findings suggest that polydatin may be a potential therapeutic strategy for protecting podocytes against oxidative stress and injury induced by high fructose intake.

Summary: The study found that hypoxia can suppress the development of rheumatoid arthritis by controlling HIF-1 alpha expression, delaying joint swelling and reducing joint destruction. Deferoxamine-mediated activation of HIF-1 alpha can counteract the inhibitory effect of sustained hypoxia on pro-inflammatory cytokines.

Summary: The study revealed the important role of CBL protein in cardiac hypertrophy by promoting it through activation of HIF-1α. Inhibition of CBL expression can alleviate cardiac hypertrophy and related gene expression. Therefore, activation of the CBL/HIF-1α axis may be a promising strategy for the treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Summary: Type 1 interferons are central in regulating the immune system's response and induce interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs). Among them, ISG15 has been extensively studied for its role in cancer as both a promoter and inhibitor of tumor growth. This review provides an update on recent observations and findings related to ISG15 in cancer, including its molecular mechanisms and therapeutic applications.

Summary: Exposure to triclosan can induce neurotoxicity by promoting inflammatory cytokine expression through shifting metabolism to glycolysis. This study demonstrated that TCS increased NF-kappa B activation and inflammatory cytokine expression, while inhibiting glycolysis reduced the inflammatory response in activated microglia. Activation of the Akt/mTOR/HIF1 alpha pathway was also involved in TCS-induced neurotoxicity.

Summary: The activation of HIF-1 alpha signaling has potential implications for treating bone diseases. This study found that the osteocyte-specific HIF-1 alpha pathway plays a critical role in bone mass accrual, material properties, and micro-structures, as well as regulating bone remodeling through impairing osteocyte differentiation and maturation.

Summary: This study investigated the therapeutic effect of Guhong injection (GHI) on cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats through the PKC/HIF-1 alpha pathway. The results demonstrated that GHI can ameliorate neurological damage in MCAO rats by reducing levels of HIF-1 alpha, PKC, and other related markers in the brain.
