Summary: This paper reports the application of Pt(II) and Au(I) catalysts in inter- and intramolecular cascade [4+2] annulation reactions, as well as the mechanistic study of the reaction products. In the Pt(II)-catalyzed reaction, annulation occurs between two alkenes via two benzopyrylium intermediates. In the Au(I)-catalyzed reaction, annulation takes place between one alkene and benzopyrylium and quinodimethane intermediates. In addition, the Au(I)-catalyzed reaction of indole-yne-carbonyls with one alkene proceeds through benzopyrylium rather than quinodimethane or carbocation intermediates, as supported by DFT calculations.

Summary: This work reports the first catalyzed synthesis of d-block metal-metal bonded complexes. The treatment of terminal zinc hydrides in the presence of 5 mol% Ni(CO)(2)(PPh3)(2) afforded Zn(i)-Zn(i) bonded compounds in high isolated yields with concomitant elimination of dihydrogen. Stoichiometric reactions, kinetic studies and DFT calculations were conducted to elucidate the reaction mechanism.

Summary: The hybrid catalyst of Zn-HT/TAC synthesized by the incipient impregnation method showed higher efficiency in hydrogen production during fermentation, with a 26.62% increase compared to the control group. The performance of the resulting hybrid catalyst is attributed to the cooperative effects of the base property of Zn-HT and selective adsorption of TAC.

Summary: Quantum chemical calculations indicate that ethyne (C2H2) is an effective fragment for forming strong Be-Be and Zn-Zn interactions. The complexes formed are thermodynamically stable, with Be-2 and Zn-2 fragments acting as electron donors to the C2H2 fragment, resulting in Be-2(& delta;+) and Zn-2(& delta;+) states. The introduction of the electronegative F atom in C2F2 leads to shorter Be-Be and Zn-Zn distances. Bonding analyses show that these complexes exhibit delocalized & pi; bonding, leading to aromaticity.

Summary: This work demonstrates the selective reduction capabilities of a Zn(I) Zn(I)-bonded compound towards various small molecules. The reaction of this compound with white phosphorus yielded a trimetallic cluster containing a zinc-coordinated Zintl ion. Furthermore, the compound also selectively reduced 1-azidoadamantane and diphenyl disulfide to produce specific Zn(II) and thiolate derivatives, respectively. Notably, the compound remained intact during the oxidation reaction with elemental sulfur, with only the pendant phosphine of the ligand backbone being oxidized.

Summary: This paper presents the first report on the intramolecular [2+2] cycloaddition of vinylsilane. Previous studies have focused on controlling regioselectivity in the [2+2] cycloaddition of allenes by changing the substrate, but no research has attempted to achieve this solely by altering the reaction conditions. In this study, we successfully controlled the intramolecular [2+2] cycloaddition at proximal and distal positions of allenes by modifying the reaction conditions.

Summary: The synthesis of a dicationic Zn+2-based complex with a tripodal tris(2-pyridylmethyl)amine (TPA) ligand is reported, which serves as a highly chemoselective catalyst for hydrosilylation reactions of alkynes. Unlike typical Zn-catalyzed hydrosilylation reactions, this system activates C equivalent to C triple bonds instead of Si-H bonds, which explains its high chemoselectivity.

Summary: By adding two molar equivalents of KOtBu to Zn(TMP)(2) (TMP=2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidide), the mild zinc bis-amide base is transformed into a powerful metalating agent capable of regioselective zincation of sensitive fluoroarenes. The intermediates formed during Zn-H exchange are structurally verified, showing the activation of TMP groups to generate higher order bis-aryl potassium zincates. This bimetallic KOtBu/Zn(TMP)(2) partnership exhibits the ability to zincate toluene and benzene at room temperature.

Summary: This study presents the design and synthesis of sulfated disaccharide inhibitors based on IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S), which showed potent inhibition of Sulf-2. The results suggest that IdoA(2S)-GlcNS(6S) is the shortest fragment size required for effective inhibition of Sulfs, and a trisulfated disaccharide is identified as the minimal fragment size of heparan sulfate for effective endosulfatase inhibition.

Summary: The self-adaptability of galvanostatic electrolysis was found to be helpful in a multistage chemo- and diastereoselective electrochemically promoted cyclodimerization of chalcones. Through a series of reductive events, densely functionalized cyclopentanes with five contiguous stereocenters were obtained (25 examples, yields up to 95%, dr values up to >20:1). Further experimental and electrochemical investigations indicated the crucial role of dynamic kinetic resolution of the aldol intermediate in the reaction mechanism.
