Summary: In this study, drug-loaded nanoparticles with anti-osteoporosis function were synthesized and introduced into PMMA bone cement. The water absorption pathways in the cement were constructed by adjusting the particle size of the nanoparticles, allowing for sustained release of the drugs. The results showed high cumulative release ratios of the drugs and extended release cycles, effectively preventing infection and matching bone healing cycle.

Summary: This study focuses on improving the loading and release efficiency of sofosbuvir drug (SOF) for anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) by combining it with beta-cyclodextrin (beta CD) basket to form a novel self-assembly beta CD-SOF. The drug is then loaded onto chitosan nanoparticles (Cs NPs) to create a hybrid composite named Cs@beta CD-SOF. Through various characterization methods, it is confirmed that Cs@beta CD-SOF has a loading efficiency of 94.54% and exhibits high release efficiency.

Summary: Cyclodextrin nanosponges (CDNS) are 3D nanoporous polymers formed by reacting beta-cyclodextrin with suitable bifunctional cross-linkers, which can be used as biomaterials for controlled drug delivery due to their nontoxicity, biocompatibility, and biodegradability. The release kinetics of a drug carrier in CDNS hydrogels are influenced by the nanoarchitectonics of the hydrogel and the interactions between drug and polymer across the 3D network.

Summary: Freeze- and spray-dried inclusion complexes (ICs) of chlorhexidine (CHX) in beta-cyclodextrin were characterized using Fourier transform (FT)-Raman, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and photoacoustic spectroscopy. The drying method influenced the conformational adjustment of CHX:beta-cyclodextrin, with freeze-drying providing a better inclusion. Freeze-dried ICs showed faster dissolution patterns and provided immediate drug dissolution profiles in an aqueous medium better than pure CHX.

Summary: This study investigated the release kinetics of drug-loaded viscose fabrics using supercritical CO2 fluid. The best-fitting model for all the drugs was the Korsmeyer-Peppas model. It was found that viscose fabric swells and has slower release rate when a drug with a higher solubility parameter is loaded onto it using supercritical CO2 fluid.

Summary: The Knudsen diffusion model is accurate for long nanotubes with completely diffusive reflections, but invalid for smooth nanotubes with partly specular reflections, leading to discrepancies between measurement and theory. The implementation of Fick's first law can lead to inaccurate predictions and interpretations of gas diffusion through nanotubes, which can be avoided by using the molecular transmission probability obtained by the kinetic theory.

Summary: Liver disease is a major cause of global mortality, and identifying biomarkers for diagnosing its progression is crucial for improving outcomes. Targeted mass spectrometry is a powerful tool for verifying biomarker candidates and clinical applications, particularly for glycoproteins translation. However, the limitation of analyzing only one sample per run has become apparent. In this study, a high-throughput intact N-glycopeptides quantification strategy was developed, allowing the validation of 20 samples per run with an average analysis time of 3 minutes per sample. The strategy was applied in a cohort of 461 serum samples and identified a panel of 10 IgG N-glycopeptides that have strong clinical utility in evaluating the severity of liver disease.
