Summary: This study proposes a blood-based microRNA signature for identifying high-risk populations for colorectal cancer screening. Circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) are found to improve colorectal cancer risk prediction, with a 7-miRNA score showing higher predictive ability compared to environmental and polygenic risk scores.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is a leading cause of cancer death worldwide, and early diagnosis is crucial for improving survival rates. Current diagnostic methods have suboptimal accuracy, while new molecular noninvasive tests based on CRC alterations are more sensitive and specific. Identifying ideal diagnostic biomarkers remains a challenge.

Summary: It takes nearly two decades for a cancer lesion to develop from normal colon mucosa, but most colorectal cancer patients are at advanced stages at diagnosis. Chemotherapy, targeted therapy, and radiotherapy can improve the prognosis, but therapy resistance is common, and survival rates remain poor for patients with locally advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer. MicroRNAs (miRs) can regulate cancer pathways and serve as predictive biomarkers for detecting cancer or resistance to treatment. MiRNA-based therapeutics may reach clinical stages.

Summary: Colorectal cancer is a common type of cancer and a leading cause of mortality worldwide. MicroRNAs play important roles in the development and progression of colorectal cancer, serving as clinical biomarkers and therapeutic targets. However, the complex network of miRNA/target regulation in colorectal cancer remains unclear.

Summary: Despite recommendations for universal screening, adherence to colorectal cancer screening in the US is low. This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of liquid biopsy for colorectal cancer screening and found that colonoscopy was the most cost-effective strategy, while liquid biopsy was not cost-effective at its current cost and screening performance.

Summary: This study examined the profiles of circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) in metastatic colorectal cancer patients and found that certain miRNAs, such as hsa-miR-33b-5p, could serve as valuable biomarkers for predicting response to therapy and disease progression. Combining the levels of circulating VEGF-A with miR-33b-5p further improved the stratification of patients.

Summary: miRNAs, a subset of non-coding RNAs, play crucial roles in regulating gene expression in various cellular processes, particularly in cell differentiation, proliferation, apoptosis, and tumorigenesis. They can be modulated using techniques such as miRNA mimics or antagonists and hold potential applications in cancer therapy and early diagnosis. Recent evidence suggests that miRNA-mediated gene regulation intersects with the Akt pathway, forming a regulatory network that may greatly impact cancer therapy.

Summary: This article proposes a new quantile based ridge M-estimator for multiple linear regression models. The estimator automatically chooses the quantile probability of the ridge parameter based on the level of noise and multicollinearity, and outperforms other methods in cases of high multicollinearity, significant error variance, and y-direction outliers.

Summary: This article extensively discusses the issue of heteroscedasticity and its negative impact on linear regression model estimation. It introduces a relatively new approach called the least squares ratio method to estimate a linear regression model in the presence of heteroscedasticity and outliers. An adaptive version of this technique is proposed, taking advantage of existing adaptive estimators to address the issue of unknown heteroscedasticity. Monte Carlo simulation is used to evaluate the performance of the proposed estimator under varying degrees of heteroscedasticity and number of outliers.

Summary: The ridge regression estimator is widely used in multiple linear regression models, but it may have adverse effects when outliers are present. To address this, robust ridge estimators based on M-estimator are proposed, which are less sensitive to outliers. This study introduces robust ridge estimators for the ridge parameter and evaluates their performance through simulations and a real application. The results show that the proposed robust ridge estimators outperform the traditional methods in terms of mean squared error.

Summary: The Almon technique is a widely used estimation procedure for the distributed lag model, and this study proposes a robust estimator for parameter vector of the model when data set is contaminated with outliers. The study also introduces robust t-tests and confidence intervals for the lag coefficients. The simulation results reveal the attractive performance of the proposed methods in the presence of outliers in the y-direction.
