Summary: Two randomized controlled trials showed that local nitroglycerin can increase the success rate of peripheral arterial cannulation and decrease the procedure time without major complications. Although the evidence quality was very low, local nitroglycerin may be useful in facilitating peripheral arterial cannulation in children.

Summary: In adult Fontan patients, peripheral venous pressure (PVP) can be a reliable method to estimate central venous pressure (CVP) during cardiac catheterization procedures. The PVP and CVP are highly correlated, with PVP measurements tending to overestimate CVP. However, a specific formula and the Bland-Altman plot provide concrete data to support this relationship.

Summary: The aim of this study was to identify factors associated with difficult radial artery catheterization. The study found that adult patients with lower body weight, height, and surface area are more likely to experience difficulties during catheterization due to smaller arterial diameters. The initial use of ultrasound can reduce first-attempt failure and improve procedural efficiency.

Summary: Peripheral arterial cannulation is a safe and effective method for hemodynamic monitoring and blood sampling in sick neonates, though careful attention to cannulation technique is necessary. Posterior tibial artery cannulation requires more attempts compared to radial artery cannulation, but there is no significant difference in duration of arterial line or incidence of serious complications.

Summary: The paper proposes a blockchain-based solution for decentralized digital manufacturing and supply of medical devices, utilizing Ethereum smart contracts to govern and track transactions effectively. By incorporating decentralized storage and analyzing cost and security aspects, it shows resilience against vulnerabilities and security attacks. The smart contracts code has been made publicly available on GitHub for further development and implementation.

Summary: The medical management of PAD aims to reduce the risk of MACE and MALE by optimizing atherosclerotic risk factors, providing appropriate wound care, and managing diabetic foot ulcers, foot infections, gangrene, and chronic non-healing wounds. This review emphasizes the importance of a multi-faceted approach to care, including supervised exercise therapy for intermittent claudication, understanding the disease patterns of smoking and diabetes mellitus, and implementing best practices for diabetic foot ulcer prevention.

Summary: This paper describes the surgical procedures for right heart catheterizations (RHC) to measure mean pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) in rats, as well as the catheterization of the carotid artery for simultaneous measurement of mPAP and mean systemic arterial pressure (mSAP) using the PowerLab Data Acquisition system. The protocol provided can be helpful for researchers to learn and replicate the microsurgical procedure for RHC in rats, and to measure mPAP and mSAP in rat models of pulmonary hypertension (PH) and other heart-related conditions.

Summary: Acute limb ischemia remains a challenge for vascular surgeons, posing immediate threat to patients' limbs and, in some cases, their overall quality of life. Recent technological advancements have focused on the endovascular management of this complex condition, with various devices available to remove intraluminal material and treat the underlying pathology. This review discusses the specific characteristics, indications, and advantages of these devices. It emphasizes the importance for modern endovascular surgeons to be proficient in utilizing different tools to tailor their revascularization strategy and timing for optimal patient outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the outcomes and causes of mortality for patients treated with paclitaxel-coated devices (PCDs) for femoropopliteal peripheral artery disease (PAD). Results showed that PCD use was safe and not associated with an increased risk of long-term mortality. There were no significant differences in 30-day outcomes or causes of mortality between patients treated with PCDs and non-drug-coated (NDC) devices, indicating that PCD use does not increase mortality risk.

Summary: The aim of this review study is to investigate nurses' knowledge and related factors towards the prevention of medical device-related pressure ulcers (MDRPUs). The study found that nurses' knowledge is influenced by factors such as age, sex, level of education, work experience, technical titles, type of hospital, level of hospital, and type of ward. Nurses' knowledge about the prevention of MDRPUs was insufficient and it is suggested to provide facilities for nurses to receive the necessary training.

Summary: Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a connective tissue disease characterized by immune-system alterations, fibrosis, and microangiopathy. Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a severe complication affecting about 10-15% of SSc patients, and appropriate screening programs are necessary. Nail fold videocapillaroscopy (NVC) studies show more severe microvascular dysfunction in SSc patients with PAH, suggesting a correlation with pulmonary microangiopathy.
