Summary: Burnout syndrome is a state of long-term work exhaustion that affects cognitive, physical, and emotional levels. Recent research has shown an increasing awareness and attention towards burnout syndrome. This study investigates the trends of burnout in the Czech population and finds a decreasing prevalence of burnout over the years, indicating a positive trend in awareness and the adoption of preventive measures.

Summary: This study reports the pathology findings from the first 10 years of the Northern Ireland Bowel Cancer Screening Programme based on faecal-occult blood tests. The data analysis showed a reduction in the diagnoses of colorectal cancer and advanced colorectal polyps with successive screening rounds. Interesting trends in pathology diagnoses of serrated polyps were also observed.

Summary: The study on cancer trends in the Czech Republic from 1977 to 2018 found an increase in the incidence of malignant neoplasms in men and women, especially notable for melanoma. Over the last decade, head and neck cancer and esophageal cancer showed significant increases in incidence in women. In contrast, stomach cancer and colorectal cancer had declining trends over the analyzed period.

Summary: By analyzing orchid records in the Czech Republic, this study found that the abundance and distribution of orchids in historical localities have dramatically declined, mainly due to habitat loss and fragmentation. Different orchid species are threatened to varying degrees, highlighting the need for targeted conservation efforts.

Summary: Constructed wetlands for wastewater treatment have been used in the Czech Republic since 1991, with about 200 full-scale constructed wetlands currently in operation. Most of these wetlands are designed with horizontal subsurface flow, but there has been a shift towards vertical and horizontal flow combination or two-stage vertical flow in recent years. The average treatment efficiencies for key parameters are 87.5% for BOD5, 78.5% for COD, 85.7% for TSS, 41.8% for N-NH4, and 41% for TP. The oldest constructed wetlands in the Czech Republic have shown consistent performance over 30+ years without refurbishment. The paper also highlights successful refurbishments of two wetlands from horizontal subsurface flow to hybrid systems, resulting in improved treatment efficiency.

Summary: This article analyzes over 20 years of historical wildland fire data from the databases of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. It provides insights into the definition of wildland fire, the locations and regional distribution of such fires, as well as advice on fire prevention and suppression measures. The article also discusses the homogeneity of groups of wildland fires identified through the emergency database selection process.

Summary: This article evaluates the relationship between the tax burden on labor and magic quadrangle indicators in the Czech Republic from 1993 to 2020. The study finds the strongest correlation between the growth of gross domestic product and the implicit tax rate on labor. Moreover, it discovers that the behavior of right-wing Parliament, behaving like left-wing parties, has a significant and surprising impact on the findings.

Summary: The study reveals that diseases are one of the main reasons for mass losses of honey bee colonies. Screening for common pathogens and viruses across different habitats found specific pathogen occurrences related to winter colony mortality. Pathogens were most prevalent in urban habitats, while viruses showed an opposite trend.

Summary: This paper presents a comprehensive trend analysis of spatiotemporal temperature change patterns in the Czech Republic between 1961-2019. The results show significant warming trends in all seasons and altitudinal groups, with particularly enhanced warming in the last decade. The study also compares different temperature parameters to provide a more detailed understanding of the temperature changes.

Summary: The inability to predict the evolution of the COVID-19 epidemic hindered effective crisis response. However, population Ct values from RT-qPCR tests proved to be helpful predictive tools in managing viral epidemics. Early measurement of Ct values could indicate viral load differences in different groups and changes in transmission, while monitoring Ct values and positivity rates could provide evidence on the effectiveness of prevention measures.

Summary: Our study reveals significant differences in the temperature-mortality associations across different subgroups defined by sex, age, and cause of death in the Czech Republic. The impact of non-optimal temperatures on mortality risk increases with age. The relative risk associated with cold temperatures has decreased in most subgroups, while the risk associated with heat has increased. These inequalities in temperature-mortality associations have led to growing disparities between sexes and among age categories.

Summary: This study in the Czech Republic identified carriers of GLA variants through a nationwide stroke screening program, providing detailed clinical characteristics and suggesting potential reclassification for certain mutations. A novel variant was classified as a variant of unknown significance, and the typical manifestation in FD patients was stroke in the posterior circulation with associated pathological findings in the cerebrospinal fluid. The importance of detailed phenotype description and data sharing for correct identification of gene variant pathogenicity in high-risk-population screening programs was highlighted.

Summary: In the Czech Republic, the Ministry of Health coordinates strategic data-based and organizational support for individual regions and providers of acute care nationwide. They quickly implemented a system for monitoring, reporting, and managing hospital capacities at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. A web-based application called the Control Centre for Intensive Care was developed to provide online technical support for the management of intensive inpatient care across the country during the first wave of the pandemic in spring 2020.

Summary: Record linkage of HBM survey data with administrative registers can enhance datasets and overcome limitations of both data sources. Availability of health registers and unique personal identifiers for linkage varies among European countries. Record linkage enables cross-sectional survey data to be used as cohort study data for exposure-health effect association analysis.

Summary: Identifying patients at high risk of early recurrence of metachronous adenomas remains a challenge. This study focused on analyzing the mutation heterogeneity in colorectal lesions to improve identification of high-risk patients. The findings showed a significant association between mutation in exon 7 of the TP53 gene in index lesions and early occurrence of metachronous adenomas.

Summary: This study developed methodological guidelines for calculating population-based health indicators using linked data and machine learning techniques, providing a systematic approach for researchers. The guidelines include detailed checklists for research question, study design, data sources, outcomes, analysis, and limitations, aiming to support high-quality research methods and improve population health information. There is a need for more high-quality research methodologies utilizing linked data and machine learning techniques to enhance population health outcomes effectively.
