Summary: This study optimized quantification conditions and applied DAPI probe to assess platelet polyP levels in a Japanese population. Results showed significantly higher polyP levels in women compared to men, with a moderate negative correlation between age and polyP levels in women. Additionally, women exhibited significantly higher responsiveness to CaCl2 stimulation than men. This DAPI-based protocol may serve as an efficient and cost-effective method for routine laboratory testing of platelet polyP levels.

Summary: Happiness is not only an individual pursuit but also a collective goal of society. The development of the tourism industry can promote social well-being by stimulating consumption, narrowing income inequality, and improving infrastructure. However, overemphasizing the economic benefits of tourism may lead to social problems such as environmental damage, forced consumption, and price hikes.

Summary: The study found that leukocyte telomere length (LTL) is differently associated with risk factors in male and female stroke patients, with lack of exercise and LDL levels in males, and dyssomnia and diabetes in females. This suggests that gender differences should be considered when utilizing LTL as an index for stroke risk and prognosis, as well as in developing intervention strategies for stroke prevention and treatment.

Summary: Heavy metal pollution poses a significant threat to food security and human health. This study assessed heavy metal exposure through hair metal concentrations in Chengdu residents, indicating metal intake from food consumption. The results showed high hair concentrations of Cd and Zn in the residents, with gender significantly affecting the concentrations of Cr, Zn, and Ni. Cereals and meat were identified as the main contributors to residents' dietary intake of heavy metals.

Summary: This study aims to demonstrate a proof-of-concept for prognostic models of post-stroke recovery on activity level outcomes. Through longitudinal cohort with repeated measures, the study established patient-level trajectories and found that recovery of activity level can be predicted from electronic medical record data, but data completeness and accuracy are crucial.

Summary: This study aims to establish the gender specificity pattern from immune cell infiltration and four kinds of cell-death perspectives to improve ischemic stroke (IS) diagnosis and therapy. The results showed significant changes in immune cell infiltration and the identification of gender-specific cell-death related genes. Machine learning techniques further revealed diagnostic models and biomarkers. These findings contribute to a better understanding of immune cell infiltration and cell death mechanisms, providing valuable therapeutic targets for IS patients of different genders.

Summary: This study investigated the association between chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cancer incidence. The findings suggest that a low estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) is not significantly associated with an increased risk of total cancer incidence in patients with CKD, possibly due to the underpowered sample size and shared risk factors between CKD and cancer.

Summary: This study investigated the association between SNPs in the LPA region and cancer incidence and mortality in Japanese individuals. The results showed that none of the 25 SNPs in the LPAL2-LPA region were significantly associated with overall cancer incidence or mortality. However, some SNPs were found to be associated with stomach cancer incidence and mortality in men, as well as colorectal cancer incidence in men and prostate cancer incidence in carriers of certain SNPs. Further analysis using different cohorts is needed to confirm these findings.
