Summary: This study investigated the effect of D-ribose on the flesh quality of gibel carp. The results showed that D-ribose supplementation improved the nutritional value, texture, and flavor of the fish. It enhanced the water-holding capacity and hardness of the flesh, facilitated the deposition of amino acids and fatty acids, and activated purine metabolism pathways.

Summary: This study analyzed the impact of Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) infection on the gut microbiota and metabolite composition of gibel carp. The results showed that CyHV-2 infection significantly altered the gut microbiota and metabolite profiles, leading to an increase in the opportunistic pathogen Aeromonas. Furthermore, modulation of tryptophan metabolism affected the abundance of Aeromonas, the transcription of antiviral cytokines, and the infection level of CyHV-2.

Summary: The study found that Bdellovibrio has a certain lysing effect on common aquatic pathogens and can significantly reduce the mortality rate of fish caused by infections. Additionally, Bdellovibrio may colonize in fish. These results provide a theoretical basis for the application of Bdellovibrio in aquaculture.

Summary: This study identified the metabolites of 2,2',4,5,5'-Pentachlorobiphenyl (PCB101) in silver crucian carp for the first time, including hydroxylated, methoxylated, and methyl sulfonated PCB101. The investigation of the types and structures of PCB101 and its metabolites, as well as their tissue distribution and accumulation characteristics, is significant for understanding the transformation and metabolic mechanisms of PCBs in aquatic organisms. Identification of precursor compounds and their metabolite pollution hazards on aquatic products and ensuring quality and safety of aquatic products is important.

Summary: This study investigated the pharmacokinetics, tissue distribution, and elimination of enrofloxacin and its metabolite ciprofloxacin in crucian carp. The results showed that enrofloxacin exhibited slow absorption, wide tissue distribution, and long elimination half-life in the fish. Multiple-dose administration resulted in significant accumulations of the drugs in the plasma and tissues.

Summary: The study showed that dietary lipid levels have a significant impact on the growth performance and lipid metabolism of large-sized common carp. Moderate increase in lipid levels can promote growth and lipid deposition, while excessive intake may inhibit growth and exacerbate lipid decomposition in the hepatopancreas. Optimal dietary lipid levels for growth performance and feed utilization of large-sized common carp were found to be 59.5 and 70.4 g/kg based on weight gain rate and feed conversion rate.

Summary: This study assessed the potential effect of phosphorus on growth, intestinal oxidation resistance, physical barrier function, and microflora for Songpu mirror carp reared in a high-concentration carbonate alkalinity environment. The results showed that increasing carbonate alkalinity led to impaired growth, digestion, antioxidant activity, and immune response in the carp. Adequate dietary phosphorus supplementation enhanced intestinal antioxidant enzyme activities, immune response, and beneficial microflora formation.

Summary: Three mitochondrial DNA sequences were used to assess the genetic diversity of silver carp from three main drainages in China. A total of 98 haplotypes were identified, with 196 variable sites and 116 parsimony-informative sites. AMOVA analysis showed that the majority of the variation was within populations. Phylogenetic tree analysis and mismatch distribution analysis supported population expansion. Establishing breeding farms in the Amur River basin and the Pearl River basin could effectively protect local unique haplotypes.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of resveratrol in ameliorating liver injury and improving lipid metabolism in fish fed with a high-fat diet. The results showed that resveratrol supplementation led to improvements in body weight, weight gain rate, and condition factor, while reducing the inflammatory response and lipid deposition. Resveratrol also increased antioxidant capacities and regulated lipid metabolism through gene expression modulation. Additionally, it decreased inflammation and improved liver function.

Summary: This study used an intermuscular-bones (imbs) partial deletion zebrafish mutant to analyze the impact of imbs deficiency on adjacent muscle development and growth. The results showed that the lack of intermuscular-bones has no significant influence on adjacent muscle development, as the expression of muscle-specific genes and muscle fiber density were similar between mutants and wild-type zebrafish.
