Summary: Bioorganometallic complexes have shown promise for potential application in cancer treatment and diagnosis, as well as in bioimaging agents, with some acting as theranostic agents. A series of novel complexes with bidentate pyridyl-1,2,3-triazole and 2,2'-dipyridylamine ligands were prepared and characterized. The complexes exhibited interactions with biomacromolecules and showed significant antiproliferative activity on colon cancer cells.

Summary: Aptamers are versatile biorecognition elements with wide applicability, requiring thorough characterization of their binding performance in the presence of the target for successful use. Various multi-analytical approaches are available to understand the aptamer-target interaction, highlighting the importance of considering the final application and limitations of analytical tools in the characterisation process.

Summary: The synthesis and characterization of chiral pincer-ruthenium complexes of ((NNN)-N-R2)RuCl2 (PPh3) (R = 3-methylbutyl and 3,3dimethylbutyl) were reported. Cytotoxicity studies showed these complexes inhibited normal and cancer cell growth in a dose-dependent manner. Various assays revealed that the treatment with pincer-ruthenium complexes induced a redox imbalance in cells by upregulating ROS generation and causing necrotic cell death.

Summary: Tetramethylammonium trifluoromethylselenate has been confirmed as an excellent precursor for selenofluorophosgene, allowing for the preparation of selenocarbamoyl fluorides, selenoureas, and heterocycles without the need for catalysts or additives. The reactions with different types of amines result in the formation of a variety of selenium-containing compounds.

Summary: Four copper(II) complexes strongly interact with DNA through partial intercalation and cleave DNA through the generation of singlet oxygen (1O2). In vitro experiments show that these complexes exhibit significant anticancer activity and induce apoptosis in HeLa cells as demonstrated by AO/EB staining.

Summary: Two new Cu(II) carboxylate complexes, Cu-NTA and Cu-DNTA, were synthesized by reacting 2-nitroterephthalic acid with CuSO4 center dot 5H2O at room temperature. The synthesized complexes were characterized using elemental (CHN), FT-IR, and thermogravimetric analysis. The crystal structures of the complexes were explored through single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, which revealed slightly distorted octahedral and square pyramidal coordination geometries for Cu-NTA and Cu-DNTA, respectively. The non-covalent interactions in the supramolecular assembly were investigated using Hirshfeld surface analysis for both complexes. Quantum chemical computations were performed to optimize the molecular geometry of Cu-NTA and to evaluate its linear and nonlinear optical properties.

Summary: A classical methodology was used to design a new type of free-base meso-tetra-(1-pyrenyl)porphyrin (H(2)TPyrP) and their corresponding metalloporphyrins. The structure, photophysical properties, and interactions with CT-DNA and BSA were characterized. The metalloporphyrins showed spectrum shifts according to the nature of the ion, and their fluorescence and singlet oxygen quantum yield decreased compared to H(2)TPyrP.

Summary: The metal complexes of N,N'-bis(2,4-dihydroxy benzaldehyde-1,2-diaminobenzene) (H4L) were synthesized and characterized. Physical and spectral studies confirmed the formation of the complexes, while biological experiments demonstrated their antibacterial and antifungal activities, with the metal complexes showing better inhibition than the ligand itself.

Summary: An efficient approach to synthesizing chiral selenoureas derived from Cinchona alkaloid scaffolds was described in this study. These selenoureas were evaluated as bifunctional organocatalysts in asymmetric Michael addition reactions, with the best results achieved by those containing the 4-fluorophenyl group, showing enantioselectivities up to 96% ee. Additionally, the catalytic performance of thiourea and selenourea counterparts was compared.

Summary: Currently, ongoing studies are exploring the interaction between free radicals and biological systems. This study evaluated the synthesis, characterization, antioxidant properties, DNA binding, and molecular docking of Schiff base ligand and its Ni(II), Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes. The metal complexes showed significant dose-dependent antioxidant activities, but lower than ascorbic acid. The DNA binding constants (K-b) and molecular docking analysis supported the experimental results. The study highlights the importance of synthesis complexes as synthetic antioxidants and anticancer drugs.
