Summary: An ultrafast and facile aqueous synthetic approach for CdTe/CdS core/shell quantum dots with emission from the green to near-infrared window has been reported. The CdTe/CdS QDs with emission wavelengths at 700 and 800 nm can be obtained within 20-45 minutes under optimized conditions, and the resulting QDs are highly luminescent without postsynthesis treatment. The influences of various experimental factors on the synthesis rate and luminescent properties of the CdTe/CdS QDs have been considered.

Summary: This study investigates the Auger recombination mechanism for carrier multiplication in giant CdTe-CdS core-shell nanocrystal solids processed in water, compared with exciton relaxation behaviors in reference films of large CdTe quantum dots synthesized using an oil-phase approach. Efficient carrier extraction is demonstrated using carrier transport layers, revealing imbalanced carrier extraction efficiencies.

Summary: Pristine and indium-doped cadmium telluride quantum dots were synthesized using an aqueous colloidal route. The structural and morphological details were studied using XRD and HRTEM. Increasing the concentration of indium precursor resulted in higher indium doping and smaller particle size. Chloride ions from the precursor controlled the growth of the quantum dots, while 3-MPA acted as a stabilizing agent. The size reduction of the quantum dots led to blue-shifted absorbance and photoluminescence spectra. Mixing the blue-emitting organic fluorophore POPOP with green-emitting CdTe:In and red-emitting CdTe quantum dots resulted in white light emission. The nanocomposite exhibited white light emission with good color properties. The study suggests the potential application of this nanocomposite in white LED and display technology.

Summary: CdTe and Al-doped CdTe colloidal quantum dots were synthesized through an aqueous route, with different sizes obtained by varying refluxing time. The Al-doping led to smaller size and increased bandgap, resulting in blue-shifted absorbance and emission spectra. Fabrication of Gratzel-type QDs-sensitized solar cells showed a marginal increase in photovoltaic efficiency for Al-doped CdTe QDs compared to CdTe QDs.

Summary: The development of NIR-II fluorescence imaging has enabled real-time detection of biological cells, tissues, and the body, but current NIR-II fluorophores face challenges in emission wavelength control and quantum yield. Cyanine dyes have shown promise as ideal NIR-II fluorophores with tunable emission and brightness, but a simpler and faster synthesis method is still needed. Further research is needed to explore NIR-II dyes with longer wavelengths and improved stability for potential clinical applications.
