Summary: This study analyzed the potential cause of local recurrence after curative endoscopic therapy for superficial Barrett carcinoma, finding that contaminated endoscopes and accessories may lead to tumor cell reimplantation, and corticosteroid injection could also promote tumor regrowth.

Summary: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) achieves higher complete remission rates of dysplasia in Barrett's esophagus patients compared to cap-assisted endoscopic mucosal resection (cEMR), although rates of complete remission of intestinal metaplasia (CRIM) at 2 years and complication rates are similar between the two groups.

Summary: ESD allows safe removal of BE neoplasia, with a 97% en bloc resection rate. 87% of HGD or T1a EAC lesions achieved both en bloc and R0 resections, while the corresponding value for T1b EAC lesions was 49%. 29% of R1 resections showed residual cancer, but only one third of them had persisting neoplasia at follow-up.

Summary: The significance of tumor locations in patients with resected gallbladder carcinoma (GBC) has been evaluated in this study, aiming to provide indications for extra-hepatic bile duct resection (EHBDR) based on tumor locations. Comparative analyses and a meta-analysis were conducted on GBC patients who underwent resection between 2010 and 2020. The findings showed that proximal tumors (neck/cystic duct) were associated with more advanced stages, more aggressive tumor features, and worse prognosis compared to distal tumors (fundus/body). Moreover, cystic duct tumors were identified as an independent prognostic factor. EHBDR did not offer survival advantages, even in patients with cystic duct tumors, and it was even harmful in patients with distal tumors.

Summary: The study compared the outcomes of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) for early Barrett's esophagus neoplasia, finding that ESD had higher en bloc and R0 resection rates, lower recurrence/residual disease rates, and less need for repeat endoscopic treatments compared to EMR.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of adjuvant therapy (AT) on the long-term survival of patients who underwent curative resection for distal cholangiocarcinoma (DCC). The results show that AT is commonly used among patients with DCC, and it significantly improves long-term survival in patients with perineural invasion (PNI) or lymph node metastasis (LNM).

Summary: Among patients with distal cholangiocarcinoma (DCC) undergoing resection, one in four patients experienced early recurrence (ER). Factors associated with a higher ER risk included neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), peak total bilirubin (T-Bil), major vascular resection (MVR), and lymphovascular invasion. An early recurrence score based on these factors may help identify patients at higher risk for ER.

Summary: Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) showed favorable accuracy in selecting mucosal esophageal cancer for treatment with ESD, with higher rates of overstaging in tumors with larger size, poor differentiation, and protruding morphology. Miniprobe EUS demonstrated higher accuracy for squamous esophageal cancers confined to mucosa.

Summary: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is a standard treatment for early gastric cancer (EGC), but non-curative resection (NCR) after ESD can pose challenges. We aimed to develop a machine-learning (ML)-based NCR prediction model for EGC prior to ESD, with the XGBoost model showing the highest performance. This ML model can provide valuable information for making treatment decisions for EGC prior to ESD.

Summary: The study found that STER and ESE have similar efficacy and safety for the resection of esophageal and gastric submucosal tumors, but ESE is associated with significantly shorter procedure duration. Overall, there were no significant differences between the two methods in terms of complete resection rate, en bloc resection rate, recurrence rate, and total adverse events rate.

Summary: This study aimed to establish prediction models for postoperative survival in hepatitis B virus-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HBV-HCC) with microvascular invasion (MVI). Nomograms for disease recurrence and overall survival (OS) were developed using preoperative serological indicators, tumor clinicopathologic features, surgical margin, and postoperative adjuvant TACE. The nomograms showed good predictive performance and accurately stratified patients into different risk groups.
