Summary: A portable, 3D-printed miniaturized electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensor for glucose detection has been developed using carbon black-doped polylactic acid (PLA) electrodes. The ECL emission is obtained using a 1.5V AA alkaline battery and detected with a smartphone camera, enabling easy portability. The biosensor showed excellent ability to detect glucose and can be used for point-of-care analysis by preloading the necessary reagents.

Summary: In this study, a rapid and sensitive fluorescence assay was developed for detecting organophosphorus pesticides. The assay utilized TAMRA-labeled aptamer and cDNA with extended guanine bases, and upon binding to the pesticide, the TAMRA fluorescence was recovered. The method showed good sensitivity and was successfully applied for the analysis of profenofos in vegetables.

Summary: This paper presents a novel bioelectrode for the direct measurement of creatinine, which overcomes the issue of high working potential in current creatinine-selective biosensors by using electrocatalytic nanocomposites that work at low potentials. The bioelectrode exhibits sufficient sensitivity, a broad linear range, a low limit of detection, and excellent selectivity towards creatinine.

Summary: Fluorescent hydrogels are promising materials for portable biosensors used in point-of-care diagnosis. They have a greater binding capacity for organic molecules compared to immunochromatographic test systems, and fluorescent detection is more sensitive than colorimetric detection. The properties of hydrogel matrix can be finely tuned for better analyte compatibility, and hydrogel biosensors can be made reusable and suitable for studying dynamic processes in real time.

Summary: A water-soluble fluorescent sensor based on CPBA was designed and synthesized, which exhibited selective fluorescent response to glucose in the pH range of 4-10. The selectivity of CPBA towards glucose was achieved through aggregation-induced emission (AIE) phenomenon, indicating high affinity for glucose.

Summary: This study introduces a new method of using unnatural amino acids as protein labels, which not only changes the local microenvironment but also has minimal impact on the overall structure. By incorporating L-DOPA into the protein, it can be used as an electrochemical label for highly selective and sensitive detection of glucose.

Summary: AzuFluor 435-DPA-Zn, a azulene fluorophore with two zinc(ii)-dipicolylamine receptor motifs, exhibits fluorescence enhancement in the presence of adenosine diphosphate. Selectivity for ADP over ATP, AMP and PPi is achieved through appropriate positioning of the receptor motifs, as an isomeric sensor cannot distinguish between ADP and ATP.
