Summary: The lack of in vivo models has hindered our understanding of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) development. In this study, we used genetic screening in an immunodeficient mouse model to identify oncogenes highly expressed in induced HCC (iHCC) samples. Overexpression of these genes transformed primary human hepatocytes into iHCC. The iHCC model recapitulates histological architecture and gene expression characteristics of clinical HCC samples, providing a biological basis for studying HCC initiation and identifying diagnostic biomarkers and targets for cellular immunotherapy.

Summary: This study aimed to compare different cryopreservation methods for bovine and porcine hepatocytes. The results showed that freezing media and freezing time had less influence on cell recovery. However, the choice of species and freezing system affected cell recovery. Cryopreservation using a controlled-rate freezer yielded a recovery rate of 30% for bovine hepatocytes and 55% for porcine hepatocytes, while using a standard freezing container resulted in a decrease of approximately 10%. The cultivation of cryopreserved bovine hepatocytes was less effective compared to porcine hepatocytes.

Summary: The mechanism of GH-induced hepatocyte DNA synthesis and proliferation is mainly mediated through the JAK2/PLC pathway leading to autocrine secretion of IGF-I, which then activates the IGF-I receptor tyrosine kinase signaling pathway. Blocking antibodies to IGF-I, but not transforming growth factor alpha, inhibit GH-induced hepatocyte DNA synthesis and proliferation.

Summary: This study observed the morphological changes of duckling livers from the embryonic period to the first week after hatching, and successfully isolated primary hepatocytes from duck embryos. The results showed that the weight of duckling livers increased with age, and the cultured hepatocytes grew well. This study provides valuable insights for the understanding of liver development and hepatic cell cultures, as well as the investigation of lipid metabolism in ducks.
