Summary: Asparagine (N)-linked protein glycosylation has a significant impact on the biogenesis and function of proteins in mammals and plants. The glycan processing in mammals is carried out by Golgi-resident enzymes, while in plants the N-glycan modifications are evolutionarily conserved. Understanding of these conserved glycoprotein modifications is advancing with recent developments.
