Summary: The study revealed that L-selenomethionine supplementation inhibited ammonia-induced cardiac autophagy by activating the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which alleviated the cardiac injury caused by excessive ammonia inhalation to some extent. L-selenomethionine could potentially provide a valuable intervention for ammonia toxicity in the future.

Summary: Doxazosin inhibits autophagy by activating the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, attenuating liver fibrosis. It also blocks HSC proliferation and migration, inducing cell apoptosis in a concentration-dependent manner. Additionally, doxazosin activates the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway which regulates fibrosis, autophagy, and apoptosis in HSCs.

Summary: Fluoride inhibits chondrocyte proliferation and promotes autophagy through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway in chondrogenesis. The study also showed that fluoride downregulates the mTOR signaling pathway-related genes and is associated with changes in autophagy-related gene expressions. MHY1485, a small-molecular mTOR activator, can reverse the fluoride-induced promotion of autophagy and recover the downregulation of proliferative chondrocyte markers induced by fluoride in chondrogenic cells.

Summary: This study reveals squalene epoxidase (SQLE) as a novel oncogene that promotes pancreatic cancer (PC) growth by mitigating endoplasmic reticulum stress and activating lipid raft-regulated Src/PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. SQLE facilitates cell proliferation, induces cell cycle progression, and inhibits apoptosis in vitro, while promoting tumor growth in vivo. SQLE inhibitors effectively suppress PC cell proliferation and xenograft tumor growth, highlighting the potential of SQLE as a therapeutic target for PC.

Summary: This study investigated the effect and mechanism of 6-MDS in breast cancer using network pharmacology, molecular docking, and molecular dynamics simulation. The results showed that 6-MDS inhibited breast cancer through the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, inducing apoptosis and autophagy in MCF-7 cells. Furthermore, 6-MDS triggered the generation of reactive oxygen species, which contributed to its inhibitory effects on breast cancer.

Summary: In this study, it was found that thymoquinone inhibited the proliferation of gastric cancer cells and induced concentration-dependent apoptosis and autophagy. These effects were mediated through the inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway. The findings provide new insights into the specific mechanism of thymoquinone as an anti-gastric cancer drug.
