Summary: This study describes the cell cycle regulation mechanism of germinative cells in the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis, which is influenced by the interaction between the parasite and the host. Host EGF regulates the G1/S phase of the cell cycle through the EGFR-ERK-EmCyclinD pathway.

Summary: In this study, the molecular characterization of human echinococcosis in the southern Punjab region of Pakistan was conducted. The majority of human infections were caused by E. granulosus s.s., followed by E. multilocularis and E. canadensis. Genotypic characterization among both human and livestock populations is needed to explore the genetic diversity of echinococcosis.

Summary: This study investigates the potential role of EmTUBB3 in Echinococcus multilocularis protoscoleces. The results suggest that EmTUBB3 might contribute to tegument formation and protonephridial system flame cell integrity in E. multilocularis protoscoleces.

Summary: The study aims to raise veterinary awareness of a newly recognized parasitic threat to canine and human health and emphasizes the need to implement best practices of cestocidal use in high-risk dogs. Through the diagnosis and treatment of a young Boxer dog with vomiting and bloody diarrhea, a European strain of Echinococcus multilocularis was identified, which is currently emerging in dogs, people, and wildlife. Following cestocidal and antibiotic treatment, the symptoms in the dog were resolved.

Summary: The study validated a real-time PCR technique that can distinguish Echinococcus multilocularis, E. granulosus s.l., and Taenia spp. in biopsy or cytology material. Sanger sequencing of E. granulosus s.l. and Taenia spp. amplicons enables differentiation of various Echinococcus and Taenia species. The assay demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity in detecting and identifying larval cestodiases in human tissue.

Summary: Echinococcosis is a neglected zoonotic disease with a high risk to human health. In Albania, cystic echinococcosis (CE) is prevalent, but there is a lack of data to confirm this. A total of 771 CE cases were documented through systematic literature search and reviewing hospital records. Surgery was the main treatment approach. Mandatory notification should be strengthened to establish a realistic estimate of CE prevalence and incidence in Albania.

Summary: In this study, a multi-epitope vaccine GILE containing dominant epitopes of Echinococcus Multilocularis (E. multilocularis) infection was successfully constructed. The GILE vaccine showed good immunogenicity and antigenicity, providing a theoretical and experimental basis for the prevention and treatment of E. multilocularis infection.
