Summary: The study reveals that two manifestations of complexity introduce recall uncertainty, which drives the variation in the recall process. It also suggests that managers should use recall options to manage recall uncertainty, and highlights the possibility of nested recalls within a larger recall as opposed to clean recall categories.

Summary: Food matrices, resulting from interactions between compounds and processing parameters, can affect the structure and bioavailability of potentially beneficial compounds. This review explores whether the food matrix impacts the prebiotic efficacy of inulin-type fructans. The hypothesis is that other ingredients in food may alter the prebiotic effect.

Summary: Food and nutrition security has been overlooked in planning, but with the increasing impacts of climate change on industrialized agriculture, there is a clear need to establish shorter, more sustainable agricultural production practices. Urban agriculture is proposed as a method for planners to support sustainable food production.

Summary: Foodborne bacteria play a crucial role in food and human health. Despite improvements in food safety regulation, bacterial contamination remains a major public health concern and causes significant economic losses. Proteomics research has provided valuable insights into the detection of pathogens and the mechanisms of bacterial interaction with their environment. A combination of genomic, metagenomic, and proteomic approaches, particularly using mass spectrometry, shows promise for studying food safety in production.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the changes in risk factors associated with childhood food sensitization during 2009-2019 in China. The results showed that family history of atopic disease, age, and feeding patterns were associated with food sensitization. However, the probability of food sensitization increased significantly in the only-child group and decreased in female children during this period.

Summary: This study assessed the microbiological quality of shellfish in the Campania Region Sea over six years. The results showed good microbiological quality overall, but a correlation was found between microbial contamination, season, rainfall, and dissolved oxygen. Additionally, discharge density and rainfall were associated with higher E. coli contamination in the shellfish.

Summary: The dominant agricultural and food systems are causing continuous resource depletion and negative environmental and social impacts. There is a call for new research in sustainability transitions to address the global challenges faced by agri-food systems, focusing on dynamics between coupled systems, social justice and equity, transitions in low- and middle-income countries, and cross-sectoral governance and integration. This research aims to move beyond single-scale and sector perspectives towards more inclusive and comprehensive analyses of food system dynamics.

Summary: This article reviewed the sensitivity of infants and toddlers to contaminants in food, as well as the health risks of common contaminants found in food. It proposed ways to reduce the negative health effects of food contamination, including educating parents to limit potentially dangerous foods, diversifying diets, selecting appropriate cooking techniques, and improving food quality.

Summary: This paper argues that engaging in sustainable food gardening can improve food access, support food justice, and enhance sense of purpose and well-being. However, without appropriate policies tackling social and racial justice issues, potential structural barriers may hinder the impact of sustainable gardening on well-being.

Summary: Consumption of a healthy diet improves cardiovascular risk factors and reduces the development of cardiovascular disease. Food insecure adults often consume an unhealthy diet, promoting obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program aims to address food insecurity by increasing access to healthy foods. However, the association between SNAP participation and cardiovascular disease risk factors among food insecure adults remains unclear.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the interaction between arsenic exposure and being overweight/obesity on diabetes or insulin resistance risk. The results showed an additive interaction between high arsenic exposure and being overweight/obesity on insulin resistance risk. The interaction between arsenic exposure and being overweight/obesity has significant implications for insulin resistance risk.

Summary: Mycotoxins, as secondary metabolites of fungi, can be found in various foods consumed by humans and animals. These substances are resistant to technological processes and most often contaminate products of animal and plant origin. Approximately 25% of the world's harvest may be contaminated with mycotoxins.

Summary: Research in mainland China found that girls reported higher psychological well-being than boys. Protective factors related to children's competence and their family and school systems were found to promote the well-being of both genders, while risk factors such as academic pressure and parent-child conflict were detrimental to all children's psychological health.
