Summary: This research compares solid dispersions (SDs) of ketoprofen (KET) with three different semicrystalline carriers (PEG, Poloxamer, and Gelucire) in terms of miscibility, phase behavior, molecular interactions, and stability. The study found that all three carriers showed good miscibility with KET, with PEG > Poloxamer > Gelucire. Different carriers showed different effects on the crystallinity of KET, with only Gelucire showing delayed crystallization. FT-IR analysis confirmed strong interactions between KET and the carriers. Gelucire also exhibited the best stability among the three carriers.

Summary: In this study, the effect of different permeation enhancers on the skin permeability of propranolol was analyzed. It was shown that all the enhancers improved the permeability of the drug through rat skin. Labrafac had the greatest effect on flux, with an ERflux value of 9.24, while Plurol oleique had the greatest effect on ERD, with a value of 13.99. Chemical permeation enhancers can be considered as suitable excipients in transdermal delivery of propranolol due to their ability to change the skin structure and increase drug permeability.

Summary: Peptides and proteins play crucial roles in living organisms and their malfunction can lead to various diseases. The use of proteins in treating diseases like cancers and hepatitis is increasing. However, the large and hydrophilic structure of proteins and the presence of biological and lipophilic membranes pose limitations to protein administration. Increasing protein absorption through these membranes can be achieved by using absorption enhancers, such as surfactants, phospholipids, and cyclodextrins. This review focuses on other absorption enhancers and their mechanisms in protein administration routes.

Summary: Crosslinking affects the mechanical behavior and tissue metabolism of collagen-based tissues. Aging and diabetes alter the crosslinking type and density, thus changing tissue properties. High-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking and advanced-glycation end-products result in uniform deformation under daily activity, while low-connectivity enzymatic crosslinking does not. High-connectivity model displays more sliding, while AGEs induce instability in structures near the binding sites.
