Summary: This study reports the synthesis of AlCp*-complexes with low-valent main-group metals, including the first covalent Al-In and Al-Tl bonds. The Ga complex exhibits a solvent and temperature dependent equilibrium between monomeric and dimeric forms, while the In and Tl complexes are monomeric and can be reduced by AlCp*. Addition of Me(3)TACN leads to the isomerization to a novel low-valent Al-4(+) cation. This research provides valuable insights into the reactivity of metal-main-group element complexes.

Summary: We described an improved synthesis of the NON-donor stabilized potassium gallyl dimer [K{Ga(NON)}]2 and explored its reactivity in Ga-E bond formation. The reaction with (NON)GaI led to the formation of {Ga(NON)}2 via Ga-Ga bond formation, similar to the behavior observed for the corresponding aluminyl compound. The nucleophilic attack of 1-bromopentane on [K{Ga(NON)}]2 resulted in the formation of (NON)Ga(n-pentyl), avoiding the retention of KBr often encountered in the synthesis of more Lewis acidic AlIII compounds. The attempted formation of a Mg-Ga bond yielded an unsymmetrical digallane(4) consistent with the enhanced lability of Ga within the NON ligand scaffold compared to Al.

Summary: This study synthesized and characterized silanized graphene oxide (SGO) nanoparticles and found that 0.25 wt% SGO-modified adhesive exhibited higher shear bond strength and better antibacterial effects compared to 0.5 wt% SGO-modified adhesive. Additionally, the 0.25 wt% SGO-modified adhesive showed lower cytotoxicity, indicating its potential as a viable option for orthodontic bonding applications.

Summary: This study presents the synthesis and characterization of two salts [(L)GaGa(L)][Al(ORF)(4)]2 ([pf]- = [Al(ORF)(4)]-), which include the first dicationic digallene [(L)Ga?Ga(L)]2+ and a digallane [(L)Ga-Ga(L)]2+. The dicationic digallene features a trans-bent [L-GaGa-L]2+ bond analogous to neutral R-GaGa-R molecules and similar to Robinson's famous Digallyne [R-GaGa-R]2-. The dicationic digallane is similar to the widely used Jones magnesium dimer but has a very short Ga-II-Ga-II single bond.

Summary: Remote C-H functionalization is an important process for the conversion and utilization of arenes. A metal/template-free electrochemical strategy is developed for remote C-H functionalization in a helical system, where hydrogen atoms act as directing groups to facilitate alkoxylation. This strategy allows precise decoration of inert helicene skeletons with various alkoxy pendants. Selective decoration of a methoxy group on N-methylated aza[6]helicene leads to distinct luminescence variation upon changing solvents.

Summary: Experimental and computational studies show that the metal-metal bonds to zinc are more covalent, whereas those to magnesium are described as weak Al-I(or Ga-I)-> Mg2+ donor bonds. Additionally, failure to isolate the zinc-aluminum combination is attributed to cleavage of the C-F bond in the solvent fluorobenzene.

Summary: Pd-catalyzed C-H alkenylations targeting the least hindered position of N-alkyl pyrroles and 3-substituted thiophenes have been developed as an alternative to electronically controlled approaches. The steric demand and stable bidentate binding mode of the pyrazolonaphthyridine ligand are crucial for the success of these sterically controlled alkenylations using oxygen as an oxidant.

Summary: Mutants D465E and D465N of pullulanase exhibited higher activity in the presence of β-CD, indicating improved substrate utilization. The mutation of the aspartic acid residue D465 contributed to binding inhibitors and achieving lower affinity to β-CD, leading to enhanced conversion rates from different starch sources.

Summary: The synthesis and thermal redox chemistry of the first antimony (Sb)- and bismuth (Bi)-phosphaketene adducts are investigated. It is found that N-heterocyclic carbene serves as an essential mediator for the reaction. Heating the compounds results in thermal reduction of the pnictogen centers to form tetraphenyldipnictines and an unusual bis-carbene-supported OCP salt.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the demineralization of enamel surfaces around different types of orthodontic brackets in an artificial cariogenic environment. The results showed that Clarity ceramic brackets and Victory metal brackets had significantly lower demineralization values in the gingival, proximal, and occlusal surfaces compared to other brackets, indicating that these brackets are suitable for patients with poor oral hygiene.

Summary: The hybridization of functional ligands with metal atoms is a central issue in the design of reactions and catalysts based on metal complexes. Recent studies have shown that redox-active/non-innocent ligands can play various roles, such as spectators, moderators, electron/H+/0/- suppliers/poolers, cooperators, or actors, in reactions. This review highlights stoichiometric or catalytic reactions driven by substituted ethylenes and dithiolenes, as well as six-membered ligands like catecholato, benezendithiolato, aminophenolato, and o-phenelyenediamine derivatives. The chemically, electrochemically, and photochemically induced lability of these ligands is expected to provide a rich platform for useful bond-activation and bond-formation processes.

Summary: Two monomeric heteroleptic charge transfer (CT) complexes, NiII(3,6-Cat)(DADdipp) (1) and CoII(3,6-Cat)(DADdipp) (2), were synthesized using a two-step synthetic procedure. Complex 1 exhibits a low energy ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (LL'CT), resulting in a NIR NiII chromophore with high light absorption and sensitivity to solvent polarity. Complex 2, on the other hand, shows a significant change in CT properties and a decrease in absorptivity due to the bulky ligands. The electrochemical behavior of the complexes is determined by the differences in coordination geometry and the involvement of the metal center in redox transitions.

Summary: The reactivity of phenanthro-[9,10]-(1,3,2)-diazadiphospholenes towards iron triad carbonyls has been investigated. Diphospholenes react with cobalt octacarbonyl and diiron nonacarbonyl as phosphinyl radicals. The reaction with nickel carbonyl involves the initial coordination of diphospholenes to the metal ion as Lewis bases. The obtained compounds were characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy, and their structure was determined using X-ray structural analysis. DFT computational studies examined the bonding nature in the new compounds.
