Biochar is an important carbon material derived from biomass, which when integrated with bismuth molybdate nanoparticles, can effectively degrade methylene blue dye through photocatalysis, achieving up to 90% degradation.
Biochar is an important class of carbon materials, which is generally derived from biomass. Biochar can be integrated with different photocatalysts to prepare different composite materials with good adsorption and degradation capability for a wide range of organic pollutants. In this work, the nanocomposites of bismuth molybdate and waste walnut shells derived biochar have been synthesized and utilized for photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue dye. The optimized nanocomposite showed up to 90% degradation of dye due to the suppressed electron-hole pair recombination and enhanced adsorption.
