Summary: UPnGO is a commercialized workplace physical activity intervention aimed at reducing sedentary behavior. The study evaluated the program's success and found that although there were some positive aspects in terms of participation, there were challenges related to declining effectiveness and low maintenance.

Summary: Pre-Olympic predictions often include an increase in population-based physical activity, while the post-Olympic effects on physical activity remain largely unsummarized. Most pre-Olympic documents set targets for population physical activity or sports participation; however, analysis of surveillance data shows little change in physical activity prevalence in most cases. Google Trends data demonstrates a sharp increase in searches related to the Olympics during the event, and sustained growth in searches related to exercise throughout the Olympic period.

Summary: This study found that substituting sedentary time with moderate-to-vigorous physical activity in older adults is associated with lower body fat percentage, body mass index, and waist circumference. The associations were stronger in younger-old older adults and in those with a normal nutritional status.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of a blended physical literacy intervention embedded into the school day using an ecological approach. The results showed significant improvements in physical competence, knowledge and understanding, and cognitive flexibility for the intervention groups, which were maintained at the follow-up. Although there was no interaction effect between groups, time effects were found for physical activity and planning.

Summary: This study revealed that the prevalence of insufficient physical activity among Iranian adults increased steadily over the past 16 years, with a particularly significant rise among women, almost doubling in this time period. The increase was consistent across all age and gender categories as well as provinces, with women consistently showing higher prevalence compared to men.

Summary: The study showed the importance of the Active Hospital pilot being Consultant-led, with consultants able to navigate the political climate within the NHS Trust. Health care professionals emphasized the importance of interventions fitting easily within existing work practices and tailored to individual patient needs. The pilot was well received by patients, but challenges included lack of dedicated resources and capacity to deliver the interventions.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the PA and SB levels of young and middle-aged adults and determine whether they meet PA recommendations. The results showed that more than half of the population was inactive and sedentary, with men being more likely to be sedentary and inactive than women. Women had higher levels of walks and vigorous PA per week, while men had higher levels of walking minutes per day and time spent on SB. Age was also found to affect PA levels, with younger adults having higher levels of vigorous PA. Finally, there was a negative correlation between SB and PA, suggesting the importance of promoting new PA habits and healthy lifestyles for public health.

Summary: This study examines the drivers and barriers to Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) implementation in European cities and assesses its impact on physical activity. The results show that SUMP implementation is hindered by complex institutional structures and regional policy integration. Different cities face varying financial and policy guideline contexts. The study highlights the importance of consistent indicators and data transparency for evaluating the effectiveness of SUMPs and their influence on physical activity.

Summary: This study identified gender-specific trajectories of grip strength and explored its interaction with physical activity on depression among middle-aged and older European adults. The results showed that lower grip strength and insufficient physical activity were associated with increased depressive symptoms. Special attention should be paid to the prevention of depression in individuals with lower grip strength and physical inactivity.

Summary: This study found that physical activity has a negative impact on immune cell senescence in sedentary adults with obesity. Objectively measured moderate-vigorous physical activity was independently and inversely correlated with the expression of p16(INK4a) and p21(Cip1) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). A 12-week physical activity intervention was able to mitigate the elevated p16(INK4a) levels in PBMCs.

Summary: The study indicates that current digital literacy assessment instruments for older adults have strengths and weaknesses in terms of study design, administration method, and ease of use. Certain instrument modalities like the MDPQ are more generalizable and inclusive, making them suitable for measuring the digital literacy of older adults. More research focusing on the suitability of such instruments for older populations is needed, especially in areas like digital content creation and safety that currently lack assessment.

Summary: This study found that socio-eco-demographic characteristics, such as education and living status, are associated with physical activity participation of older adults. Perceived barriers to physical activity also moderate the effects of these characteristics. These findings highlight the importance of considering older adults' perspectives and perceptions when developing policies to promote physical activity.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between motives and passion for participation in physical activity among adults, and whether these factors predicted physical activity. The results showed a strong relationship between motives and harmonious passion, and a weaker, negative relationship between motives and obsessive passion. Mastery and physical condition motives, as well as harmonious passion, were significant predictors of overall physical activity.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the health and fitness status of primary school children in Austria. During the pandemic, there was an increase in BMI scores and a significant decrease in cardiorespiratory endurance and action speed among the students. However, in the second year of the pandemic, BMI scores stabilized and there were improvements in cardiorespiratory endurance, especially among children who were members of sports clubs.

Summary: The COVID-19-related mitigation measures had a significant impact on the health and fitness status of primary school children in Austria. Lockdowns/school closures led to an increase in BMI and waist circumference, a decrease in cardiorespiratory endurance and action speed, and no significant changes in muscle strength. This acceleration is likely to have long-term negative effects on their health.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the needs and desires of expecting and first-time parents regarding interventions addressing unhealthy changes in energy balance-related behavior (EBRB) during pregnancy and early postpartum. The study found that interventions should target changes at the individual, social, environmental, and policy levels, and should be couple- or family-based. The involvement of both parents is crucial in preventing unhealthy EBRB changes.

Summary: Despite progress in blood glucose control, pregnancy in women with type 1 diabetes still poses risks for the fetus. Good glycemic control reduces the risk of fetal overgrowth, but hyperglycemia can still lead to fetal overnutrition and adiposity. Preventing fetal adiposity requires revised goal setting and continuous glucose monitoring.
