Summary: This article discusses the importance of emotions in response to ecological crises and how they contribute to our wellbeing. By focusing on eco-anxiety and analyzing a wide range of studies using methods from philosophy, emotion theory, and interdisciplinary environmental studies, the authors demonstrate how understanding anxiety in general can help develop better models of eco-anxiety. The results suggest that eco-anxiety refers to a family of distinct but related ecological emotions, and that practical eco-anxiety can be a valuable emotional response to address threats like climate change, benefiting both individuals and the planet.

Summary: This study explores the impact of the interplay between the valence and arousal dimensions of landmarks on spatial memory. The results suggest that positive landmarks facilitate route knowledge, while high-arousal landmarks impair it. However, there was no clear effect of the landmarks' valence and arousal on survey knowledge. These findings support previous evidence and question the relevance of the dimensional approach to emotions in this type of research.

Summary: Crime has a consistent impact on public and political debates, where perceived crime has a greater influence on life satisfaction, particularly for those with higher incomes. Females are more sensitive to their perceptions of crime, while living outside major cities does not significantly affect crime perception. Efforts should be made to reduce misperceptions of crime, and public media coverage should be objective and informative to avoid exaggerating misperceptions and causing public distress.

Summary: This study explores the effects of instructional interactions on learning outcomes and finds that different types of instructional interactions have varying predictive effects on learning satisfaction. Adjusting the relative levels of instructional interactions can improve learning outcomes to some extent, even with a constant total amount of instructional interactions. Task value and self-regulated learning mediate the relationship between instructional interactions and learning outcomes.

Summary: This study reveals that beneficial health care policies implemented in the context of gender inequality can inadvertently reinforce disadvantage among women with HIV, leading to stigma and blame towards these women. Cultural and structural interventions are needed to resist and address the unintended consequences of health care policies on stigma towards women with HIV.

Summary: The study found that steep delay discounting is only correlated with some of the cognitive tasks evaluated, with small correlations, and is not related to Neuroticism or Conscientiousness. This suggests that steep delay discounting is not just an indicator of poor cognitive functioning or impulsiveness, but an important individual difference characteristic in itself.

Summary: This study investigated the mediating role of anxiety (spatial, trait and state) in the relationship between cognitive load and spatial navigation (egocentric and allocentric) using parallel mediation models. The results showed that anxiety partially mediated the relationship between environmental load and spatial skills, especially for egocentric and allocentric tasks. Additionally, trait anxiety mediated the relationship between environmental load and allocentric performance.

Summary: Sepsis is a global health concern due to its high mortality and morbidity rates, and early diagnosis with the use of biomarkers like procalcitonin (PCT) is crucial for improving prognosis. However, the comparability of results from different commercially available PCT immunoassays has raised concerns, highlighting the need for commutable reference materials to enhance result comparability. This would ultimately improve the safe use of PCT in clinical settings.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of imported goods on manufacturing upgrading. Using city-level data for China from 2003 to 2013, the results show that the expansion of imports significantly promotes the upgrading of the manufacturing industry. Parts imports, capital goods imports, and consumer goods imports have a positive association with manufacturing upgrading, while primary goods imports have a negative impact. Mechanism tests reveal that technology improvement and consumption expansion are important channels.
