Summary: Flammulina velutipes polysaccharides (FVP) have the potential to improve gut health by regulating gut microbiota and metabolism. The study reveals changes in intestinal tissue structure, microbiota composition, and metabolic profiling induced by FVP treatment, suggesting it as a promising dietary supplement for promoting intestinal health.

Summary: Fu brick tea theabrownin (FBTB), produced by oxidative polymerization of tea polyphenols, can alleviate various diseases. This study explored the potential of FBTB in treating ulcerative colitis (UC) using a DSS-induced chronic UC mouse model. FBTB effectively reduced colonic damage and inflammation, improved colonic antioxidant capacity, and corrected the disrupted gut microbiota. FBTB elevated microbial tryptophan metabolites by promoting Lactobacillus growth and activated aromatic hydrocarbon receptors (AhRs) to repair the intestinal barrier. These findings demonstrate that FBTB alleviates UC by targeting the gut microbiota and the AhR pathway.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the tryptophan metabolite indole produced by gut microbes can influence neurogenesis in the adult hippocampus through a specific signaling pathway. The effects of indole on neural progenitor cells include cell cycle exit, terminal differentiation, and maturation into neurons with longer and more branched neurites, highlighting a potential therapeutic opportunity for brain aging-related mechanisms.

Summary: The intestine, together with the gut-associated lymphoid tissue, is the largest immunity organ in the human body, which can be influenced by gut microbiota and lead to the formation of neuroactive metabolites associated with various psychiatric disorders. Current research suggests that probiotics can reduce the toxicity of kynurenine metabolites by affecting proinflammatory cytokines, making gut microbiota a potentially interesting target for future therapies.

Summary: Fasting/feeding cycles regulate circadian rhythms and BA metabolism, and gut microbiota plays a role in connecting the two. Shifting food intake to the rest phase disrupts the liver's circadian rhythm and metabolism, leading to abnormal variations in fecal BA profiles and gut microbiota.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of alcohol intake at different concentrations on gouty arthritis based on the gut microbiota. The results showed that high alcohol consumption exacerbated joint swelling, pain, and inflammation markers in gouty mice, and significantly altered the composition and structure of the gut microbiota. Two key microorganisms were found to aggravate gout symptoms through pro-inflammatory pathways.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of antibiotic-induced microbiome depletion on LPS-induced acute lung injury (ALI). The results showed that antibiotic treatment significantly attenuated LPS-induced lung injury and altered the diversity of the gut microbiota. Additionally, potential microbial markers and plasma metabolites associated with the ABX + LPS group were identified. Network analysis revealed correlations between IL-6 levels in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) and specific gut microbes (or plasma metabolites).
