Summary: The literature on the efficacy and safety of gender-affirming hormonal treatment in transgender people is limited. The European Network for the Investigation of Gender Incongruence (ENIGI) study aims to address this gap and has shown that the treatment is effective in inducing desired body changes in both trans AMAB and AFAB individuals. However, further research is needed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of non-standardized hormonal treatment in non-binary transgender individuals and to gather long-term safety data on mortality rates and other health risks.

Summary: This study explores components of good sex and sexual pleasure in young, urban trans people assigned female at birth (AFAB). The results show that relaxation ability is influenced by various factors, and strategies to increase relaxation include the use of penis prostheses, preference for certain sexual practices, reducing visual stimuli, drinking alcohol, and deconstructing gender and sexual norms. In clinical practice, it is important to assess and address inhibitors of relaxation to promote sexual satisfaction in trans clients.

Summary: The study found that gender-affirming treatment has a greater impact on the sexual desire of transgender men than transgender women, and body image does not mediate the effects of GAHT or GAS on sexual desire. Gender-affirming therapy has a significant direct impact on body image, but body image itself does not directly affect sexual desire.

Summary: The study analyzed sociodemographic and clinical data of transgender youth seeking health care at the Gender Identity Program in southern Brazil. Results showed that 45.8% of the young people had psychiatric comorbidities, with almost half (45.4%) having two or more psychiatric comorbidities in addition to gender dysphoria. The gender affirmation model, focusing on global assessment and personalized guidance, was found to be adequate, highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary health services specializing in gender for promoting the general well-being of transgender youth.

Summary: Transgender adolescents may seek gender identity specialty services earlier or later in adolescence. This study found that there are differences between "younger" and "older" presenters among a large cohort of transgender adolescents. Older presenters were more likely to be assigned female at birth, while younger presenters were more likely to live with both biological parents. Older presenters were also more dissatisfied with their bodies, while younger presenters showed more childhood gender nonconformity.

Summary: With increasing demand for hormone treatment among transgender and gender nonbinary individuals, more research data is becoming available. A recent literature review found that gender-affirming hormone treatment can lead to increased life satisfaction and reduced psychological difficulties for those who feel it is necessary. The use of hormones can also change body composition and contours. Studies on bone health have shown reassuring results, but special attention is needed for adolescent and adult trans women in terms of hormone dosage and treatment compliance. The use of certain estrogens in trans women may increase the risk of myocardial infarction and stroke, highlighting the importance of lifestyle management in trans healthcare.

Summary: Empirical evidence on the psychosocial health outcomes of adolescents with GD after puberty suppression and gender-affirming medical interventions is limited. The study found that adolescents receiving gender-affirming interventions showed some improvement in psychosocial health outcomes, but there were still significant differences from the norm. This highlights the need for further longitudinal research on treatment decisions for transgender adolescents.

Summary: The prevalence of suicidal ideation and behaviors is high in gender non-conforming youths, highlighting the importance of implementing therapeutic and support strategies for this population. Educational interventions directed to parents, teachers, mental health professionals, and the general community are also crucial in combating stigma and social isolation, factors that may contribute to the increased risk of suicidal behaviors.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has posed risks to the physical health and psychological well-being of individuals, particularly affecting minoritized communities like transgender/non-binary individuals. A study conducted in Italy during the pandemic revealed that this group faced concerns about the future, negative emotions, self-uncertainty, difficulties in accessing hormone therapy and health facilities, as well as stressors from living with family members and lack of support from LGBT+ communities. Subjects undergoing psychological therapy reported increased depression, anxiety, somatization, and lack of privacy in the household.

Summary: University counseling is an effective tool for promoting students' mental health and reducing psychological disorders. However, there is limited literature on the variables that explain its effectiveness. This study used multiple code theory to analyze therapists' clinical notes and investigated the usefulness of university counseling intervention. Results showed a significant reduction in patients' symptomatology and changes in linguistic measures. The study highlights the importance of both instruments and counselors' writing style in improving students' symptoms.

Summary: This study examined the psychological and social factors related to the fear of monkeypox. The findings showed that factors such as identity, education level, religious importance, COVID-19 vaccine doses, current quality of life, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic were associated with higher levels of monkeypox fear. These results can inform the development of targeted education and prevention programs to reduce fear and promote healthier behaviors.

Summary: In Italy, there is a lack of studies on gender identity and expression in gender non-conforming adults, particularly in the non-binary population. This study aimed to explore how transgender and non-binary Italian adults identify and express their gender. A questionnaire was administered to a sample of 112 adult participants accessing a specialized gender service in Rome. The findings highlight the unique needs and features of gender non-conforming adults, emphasizing the importance of greater visibility and recognition for this population.
