Summary: This review examines the impact of hypoxia on male reproductive functions. Acute exposure to hypoxia promotes testosterone production, while chronic exposure impairs steroidogenesis. Hypoxia also distorts spermatogenesis and reduces sperm count, motility, and normal forms. Additionally, hypoxia induces sexual and erectile dysfunction. It is important to explore the effects of antioxidants and upregulation of transcription of antioxidants on hypoxia-induced male reproductive dysfunction.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of DEHP exposure on testicular and male reproductive tract histopathologies and lipid profile in mice, as well as the potential curative effects of aqueous garlic extract. The results showed that DEHP exposure had significant effects on various parameters including body weight, testicular weight, serum cholesterol, triglycerides, and reproductive organ structures. However, the administration of aqueous garlic extract was found to decrease the toxic effects of DEHP in male mice.

Summary: This study found that ginger extract can alleviate cisplatin-induced anorexia by regulating serotonin levels and the expression of 5-HT3A and 4 receptors in the blood and nodose ganglion tissues. The major components of the ginger extract, [6]-gingerol and [6]-shogaol, were identified and quantified. When treated together, they significantly reduced the decrease in food intake caused by cisplatin.

Summary: In this study, the efficiency of green tea aqueous extract (GTE) as a natural treatment for Eimeria stiedae infection in rabbits was evaluated. The results showed that GTE treatment significantly reduced the shedding of E. stiedae oocysts and improved liver function in infected rabbits. The active components in GTE were found to be effectively absorbed by cells.

Summary: Cadmium is a form of anthropogenic pollution in industrialized countries, posing a public health problem and affecting male reproduction as an endocrine disruptor. Its toxic effects on male reproductive functions are mediated through altering mitochondrial function and generating free radicals.

Summary: In this study, the protective effects of red-fleshed apple flavonoid extracts (RAFEs) on male reproductive injury induced by busulfan were analyzed using both in vitro and in vivo models. The results showed that RAFEs significantly improved cell viability and proliferation rates in cell-based experiments, and enhanced various biochemical and liver function-related indicators in the testes of male mice. Furthermore, RAFEs demonstrated superior efficacy in mitigating testicular damage and enhancing the expression of spermatogenesis-related genes, while effectively reducing oxidative damage. These findings suggest that RAFEs have the potential to be used as natural agents for the prevention and treatment of male reproductive injury.

Summary: Results of the study suggest that sleep parameters may affect female and male reproductive functions, with short sleep duration, evening chronotype, or shift/night work schedules potentially impacting fertility and IVF outcomes. However, due to heterogeneous study methodologies, the results were difficult to compare.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the improving effects of ginger roots on the reproductive aspects of Japanese male quails. The results showed that the dietary inclusion of ginger roots, especially at a dose of 15g/kg feed, significantly improved ejaculate volume, sperm concentration, motility, viability, and sperm-egg penetration. Ginger roots also had a positive effect on biochemical tests and histological examination. These findings highlight the importance of adding ginger roots to the diet formulation for improving male quail reproductive performance.

Summary: Lornoxicam, a potent NSAID, has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects, but its impacts on various biological functions are not fully understood. In this study, rats administered lornoxicam showed negative effects on liver and kidney function, proinflammatory cytokines, and sperm quality. However, pretreatment with ginger extract alleviated these negative effects.

Summary: This study suggests that vapor exposure to cannabis plant matter may negatively impact male reproductive functions and testis development in mice, leading to decreased sperm count and/or motility, as well as disrupted progression of germ cell development. The effects of cannabis exposure can be seen in subsequent generations, potentially affecting male fertility.

Summary: The study showed that Echinacea purpurea extract improved hyperglycemia and insulin resistance in diabetic rats, enhanced sperm motility, protected sperm morphology and mitochondrial membrane potential, increased protein for testosterone synthesis enzyme, and reduced proinflammatory cytokine levels. Additionally, EPE decreased TLR4 and downstream phospho-NF-kappa B p65 content, suggesting a potential mechanism for reducing inflammation and improving diabetes-induced male infertility.
