Summary: The study found that over three-fourths of food pantry patrons were overweight or obese, with high rates of high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Over half of the participants were referred to local community health clinics for follow-up services. Therefore, interventions should be targeted at reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases in this vulnerable population.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the associations between objective measures of residential neighborhood built-environment attributes and sedentary time among adults. The findings suggest that a high density of destinations and street intersections around residence may reduce sedentary time.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the association between sleep quality and homeostatic and hedonic eating behaviors in children with healthy weight but differing maternal weight status. The results showed that greater sleep fragmentation was associated with higher energy intake during homeostatic eating, particularly among children at high familial obesity risk. Sleep fragmentation was not related to total eating in the absence of hunger (EAH), but it was associated with increased carbohydrates intake and decreased fat intake. These findings suggest that poor sleep may exacerbate the risk of obesity and influence taste preferences during EAH.

Summary: Research found that large supermarkets had healthier environments compared to small ones, with consistent patterns across various variables. While healthfulness scores remained stable in large stores, there was a trend towards increased healthfulness in small stores. Neighborhood deprivation did not affect overall store healthfulness.

Summary: This study conducted a neighborhood-scale investigation on O-3 and PM(2.5) in the Minhang district in Shanghai, China, finding that O-3 and PM2.5 concentrations are heavily influenced by meteorological factors and background levels. The decision tree model showed better explanatory power for variations in O-3 and PM(2.5) concentrations, and revealed that green spaces have opposite effects on PM2.5 and O-3 concentrations.

Summary: The frequency and satisfaction of sexual activity postpartum is influenced by parent sleep, infant sleep, parent nighttime caregiving, and parent-infant room sharing. More parent nighttime crib visits are associated with lower sexual frequency, regardless of infant age. Sexual satisfaction is not affected by nighttime caregiving, sleep, or sleeping arrangements.

Summary: This study aimed to compare non-oxidized PTH with total PTH as markers of bone turnover in patients with kidney failure. The results showed that there was no added value in measuring non-oxidized PTH compared to total PTH in indicating bone turnover in this patient population. The discriminatory abilities of non-oxidized PTH and total PTH were similar for low and high bone turnover.

Summary: The study highlights the issue of overuse and inappropriate use of antibiotics in small-scale food animal production in Ecuador. Household owners typically have a small number of chickens, with some reporting recent antibiotic use for their animals. Findings suggest that veterinary sales agents play a significant role in promoting inappropriate antibiotic use.

Summary: This study assessed the test-retest and internal consistency of food-related ERPs, finding excellent equivalence coefficients but varying stability coefficients across different ERPs and tasks. The results suggest high internal consistency but limited test-retest reliability, indicating potential improvements could be made through changes in task stimuli, instructions, and study procedures.

Summary: This paper examines the stringency of food safety measures in the seafood industry, using the case of Indian seafood exporters. The study identifies key food safety measures, investigates their stringency, and ranks international markets based on the degree of stringency. The findings suggest that product and process standards, traceability requirements, and tolerance limits for residues are the most stringent measures. Additionally, the European Union, the USA, and Japan are perceived to have the most stringent food safety requirements.

Summary: This paper proposes a method that integrates group multi-criteria decision-making and interval Type-2 trapezoidal fuzzy set to assess the sustainability status of food supply chains (FSCs). The method is demonstrated through a case study with a food company and industry experts, identifying both the strengths and weaknesses of FSCs. The results show a very sustainable sustainability status, but also highlight nine weak points and suggest improvement measures.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of preoperative thoracic paravertebral block (ThPVB) in treating postoperative pain after video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) by measuring hormone levels in blood serum or saliva. The results showed that ThPVB is effective and safe for patients undergoing VATS, offering an alternative to general anaesthesia with high doses of opioids.
